Just for the record, what teams are announcing that they will dive to get calls?

Maybe this is a part of Canadas ploy so that when they do embellish the refs will think it was an actual penalty and make the call.

Some of the Canadians here should let quite a few NHL players they are dead. Just a few fine examples of Canadians choosing to die instead of diving or faking injuries:

That dive and injury faking attempt fooled no one.

Smith stayed down until Shaw was ejected, then was miraculously healed from his "head injury" in time for Game 3 immediately after the NHL suspended Shaw for 3 games.

Call me biased but thats my honest opinion.
I would agree with this. Every nation has had their divers and dirty players, but the Finns in general play it pretty honorable.

1. How did this thread turn into an Eddie Shore thread?
2. Are we seriously now finding 80 year old quotes from newspapers of opposing cities and deciding that constitutes a "snap"?

If you know the hockey culture in Canada, and I seriously doubt you do, you would know that in 1929 opposing cities would say that the other team's star players were the spawn of Satan if they thought it would sell papers and appease their own fans. Actually, they still do that.

Touche, I can't believe the self-righteousness of some of these Canadians fans here. It's borderline religious fanaticism.

Hey fly4apuckguy, you didn't answer my question. If you are so much against diving then why are you sporting one of the worst divers and fakers in the game in your avatar?

Well we know this is false, the Canadian WJC teams have been loaded with divers and "instigators" over the years

Football has a rule that helps(American Football). If you are lying on the ice and you have someone come out onto the ice to help you of whatever, you cannot play for a period of time(football has it as 3 plays I believe), maybe 5 minutes?

First, I thought these comments were made before the Slovakia game. Cannot believe that someone would say that after the diving competition between the two squads...

If you embellish to give advantage your team, I don't have a big problem with that. But don't say that you don't dive when everyone can clearly see it on TV. That's hypocrite.

We're supposed to be better than that.
What a bunch of crap. Canada has always been diving, just like all other countries do from time to time. And in this tournament they have been diving the most out of any team.

It's absolutely hilarious when Spott whines to the media about players staying down when his own players are falling all over the ice.

There were embelishments/dives from them, yes.

I just find it strange how Canadian coach publicly admits that they have thought about it as a strategy while the players claim Canadians don't play hockey that way.

For whatever reason, I can't remember ever seeing a Canadian national team with this much diving.

Let's set the record straight here, boys. The interviewer from TSN asks leading questions on whatever subject he and his producer deem makes the best story. The topic that day was about diving. All Spott and the rest of the team can answer is "We don't really dive", which is what any team would say. Then that becomes a feature story on TSN.ca and gets posted on this forum and voila, here we are.

Simple matter today is, the US kids got frustrated and took really dumb penalties. At the worst possible time.
