I found the article and it was dated December 20th so not a few weeks ago unless I was thinking of a different one. It talks about Wrestlemania plans being changed.
On a related note, there has at least been talk that Sheamus going down with two clean losses to Big Show will set up him to win the Royal Rumble for the second year in a row. As noted before, Randy Orton vs. Sheamus for the World Heavyweight Title has been planned for WrestleMania 29.
I wouldn't be shocked to see Ryback win the Rumble, have Ziggler cash in the MITB at the 20th Anniversary show for RAW or something, and build up to Ryback/Ziggler for WM29. Getting Ryback away from Punk/Cena/Rock and putting him with a guy that works well with Ryback's style, I think, would be ideal. Ryback can build up the stamina required for a main event push, which he can't really do if he's main eventing Raw. No 18 second squash or anything for Ziggler, but I think this will also allow Ziggler to switch his focus onto the WWE Championship Title, maybe working ith Cena again.
For surprise entrants, I wouldn't be shocked if Lesnar comes in at 30. I'd also like to see Christian, Mark Henry, and maybe a guy like MVP as returning entrants. Also, I'd like to see the New Age Outlaws back too. I think putting them with Rhodes Scholars provides a natural feud that could put over Sandow/Rhodes in a big way, like at WM29.
Well it all depends on if the Rock vs Punk match is before or after the Rumble.
Initially, I had the crazy idea where Rumble is Main event as usual, And in the Punk vs Rock match, Shield attacks Rock then Punk wins. Then in the Royal Rumble number 30 is The Rock and he wins it.
In all honesty, I can see that happening because don't you guys think that the WWE would invest more than just one month into Punk vs Rock?...
I could see it going as:
Royal Rumble: Punk Wins and beats Rock due to Shield attacking Rock
Elimination Chamber: Comes down to Rock vs Punk who are the final 2 in the chamber, Punk wins again due to the Shield.
Then Finally: At Mania. Just 1v1. Mono y Mono. Clean match. Straight up Rock vs Punk. I would put my money on Rock winning.
But in regards to surprise entrants: Outlaws, Christian, Shelton,
Logically I think Taker/ Miz is gonna win the Rumble but that is just me.
He's going to need to be put through both announce tables and sell those for 20 minutes each to have the cardio to go from 1-30 in that case.
how about Ryback enters at #1 and eliminates every other entrant as soon as they enter the ring so there is never more than two people in the ring at any one time and he can do his cheerleading while waiting for each guy to enter
the Raw after WrestleMania 29 will probably be the last Raw we see The Rock until the summer or even later.
Rock being there the next night after WM can only mean one thing. He won, or is setting up a match for the WM following. Or goes on the show and gets attacked and leads to something else. I don't think it's done after that RAW.
SD isn't his show. I know it's named cuz of him, but the dude hasn't been around to be able to call it his. And this is coming from possibly the biggest Rock homers out there.
I don't know why people are fighting the idea of Rock winning the title at the Rumble. It's probably going to happen. You don't cut that promo the night after WrestleMania 28 and give that news at Raw 1000 7 months in advance just for him to job or get screwed over. Putting the belt on him will sell more tickets, that's the bottom line. Chances are him having the belt will also make him want to open more dates for WWE to use him.
Ideally, a Punk loss at the Rumble and a rematch at WrestleMania where he beats The Rock will actually mean something for his career. I think giving Cena the rub isn't the right way to go as they need a second guy to be at his level to push him and Punk is the only guy close right now. Having him get the rub gives him something to lord over Cena that would actually mean something in terms of a legacy.
