yea really. it sounds like they're saying the same 3 words over and over again. its retarded, cause he'll always be the humongous beeg dude forever. their dressing him up ilke a cosmonaut over there. its ridiculous. if he sucks next year, they really should just ship him up there. let him think about what he's done.

He is truly a space cadet. And, yippee, we're stuck with him for the foreseeable future.
Having watched the video that you posted, I completely disagree with this assessment. Granted, I am one of very few on this board who could understand it.

I am talking about the video only, not about his ability of being a goalkeeper.

It is, actually, a very nice piece.

During break in KHL season one of the Russian TV stations fulfilled Bryz's dream of visiting Cosmonaut Preparation Center. He toured the facility and met with one of the past cosmonauts. Bryz had a nice, respectful and serious conversation with him. Also, the cosmonaut lauded Bryz on his interest in space.

The video was nice and funny at the end.

Unfortunately, due to his contract, anything that he does will rub some people in a wrong way. I wish we deferred our judgment till he actually comes back and plays for the Flyers. And, I am afraid, we will have ample opportunity to wish that he had flown to space.

I'd visit the hell out of the Cosmonaut place, space is awesome.

According to Sports.ru, Scott Hartnell said the following in his interview to TSN 1050 Toronto when he was asked about Bryzgalov. (Please understand that I am translating from Russian what was originally said in English. I would like to ask anyone who heard the original interview to correct the text)

SH: Yes of course, he is not an ordinary man, but I like Iliya. He does not like loosing. If Philadelphia wins Stanley Cup, it will be thanks to him. He is our # 1 goalie.
If you look around, many teams in the NHL have colorful characters, especially among goalies. We have gotten used to it in Philadelphia.

It also seems Bryz will get a new head coach, and some reports say it's Andy Murray. It'll be interesting to see how that impacts the amount of play he gets.

In a win over Salavat today, Bryz got the start and had a save percentage of 95.2% (20 saves on 21 shots).

Bryz played 65 minutes against SKA (Bob's team). The game ended 2:1 in OT with Bryz ending up on a winning side of the puck.

Did you watch the game and see how he played? I'm watching Dynamo, so I didn't get to see it, but I'm surprised at the low number of shots, SKA being the offensive dynamo it is. Still, Grabovsky with the game winner six seconds before the end of OT, must've been good Oh, and Bryz finished with 16 saves for a 94.1% save percentage. It's good to see him get the start against elite opponents, as well, and since Stana looked a bit shaky on one of the goals against Ak Bars, I'm guessing he's going to get more play time if he keeps his solid performances up.

I saw the 3d and OT. According to the commentator, Bryz was very solid and had a few definite "game savers".

Has he been getting more regular starts, or does Stana still get the most work?

Too soon to tell, but he's got 2 in a row.

In post game interview CSKA interim head coach refused to name Bryz "# 1 goalie" and said that the club had 3 equally good goal keepers

Grabovsky in his post game interview joked that Bryz may have flown to space.

Some people saying it's due to injury, some saying it's due to CSKA cutting him, he said 'because the lockout is ending'

I'd take his response with a grain of salt. The players don't want to look like they are ready to end this yet.

I'm also thinking he might not be the first person to get the news that the players' side has decided to take the offer or something, so someone else would probably break the news earlier anyway. Let's wait and see what CSKA releases tomorrow.

As per R-Sport.ru:

http://en.rsport.ru/hockey/20121231/637861345.html

MOSCOW, December 31 (R-Sport) - Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov is returning to the U.S. to have an injury treated and has not quit CSKA Moscow, his Russian lockout team said Monday.

A source at CSKA told R-Sport on Sunday that earlier reports of injury were a smokescreen for Bryzgalov’s plans to leave the club and that he would be released Monday, but the team emphatically denied this was the case.

“Ilya will return to the team and continue his successful performances,” CSKA said in a website statement.

The team did not specify the nature of the injury beyond saying it was to “the upper half of the body.”

CSKA said Bryzgalov was returning to the U.S. to see doctors who had treated him before, and that he had the "absolute trust" of CSKA medical staff.

Bryzgalov has played 12 games for CSKA since arriving from Philadelphia on September 21, winning six and with a 91 percent save rate.

Bryzgalov has a combined 423 NHL appearances for the Flyers, the Phoenix Coyotes and the Anaheim Ducks, who selected him in the second round of the 2000 NHL entry draft.
