Yikes.
Its not that bad

- Ravens are very bi-polar like Bears
- Ditto Giants
- Cowboys are nothing special (And Bears play them well)
- NO had no defense and offensively they aren't as great as they were a few years back
- Phi is entering rebuild
- Cleveland is going with another QB and regime change (Stuck in rebuild)
- Pit is aging fast and showing decline
- Stl is nothing special

Only Cincy and Was make me think sure losses

Eating my words. I was dead wrong. Congrats to them.
Me too. They deserve it more than the Bears. Especially AP.

Yup. I wouldn't be surprised to see a blowout performance. Rodgers won't lose twice to the same opponent in two weeks.

My expectations

Emery reaches dramatically for DE Larry Webster of Boise State in round 1 while ignoring the OL and TE

Bears reup Urlacher and dont cut Hester/Davis

Bears also bring back same OL and Tice

Not going to be up to him. Will all depend on his defense. Giving up nearly 40 to an offense that has Ponder at QB? Inexcusable.

Yes on Urlacher but they'll cut Hester and promote Bates

Worst case scenario. Likely wont fire 10-6 coach.

Hopefully Tice is gone. Said weeks ago want Norv as new OC.
Man is a hell of an OC and could make the Bears dangerous.

No real OC is going to join the staff of a coach on a 1 year deal. It's Tice or Bates

2006 was his last stint as OC

Didn't have too much to work with ,, Had 2nd year Alex Smith at QB and a WR group of Arnez Battle , Antonio Bryant and Bryan Gilmore (Yikes)

Frank Gore did have nearly 1600 yds in his offense

His time in Miami he again was not blessed with ideal QB situation (Jay Fielder , Brian Griese and Ray Lucas) and no quality WR's

But again strong run game and his OL's performed well

When he was in SD as OC ,, He was stuck with Doug Flutie at QB (So not much he could do there)

Emery geta 1 year and thats it. Yes we can tell everything about him based off 1 draft and only 1 year of those players fire him. Next gut gets 1 strike too. The first time a 1st round pick isnt an All-Pro in his rookie year he gets canned too.

Bombed at draft table , Ignored OL , Ignored aging LB issue , etc , etc

And his FA class looks awful outside of Bush (And again ignored OL)

he had to rely on bears scouting reports and what the coaching staff told him about roster (oline fine). that said, he needs to do a better job this draft

i hope you're joking. 3 po appearances in 9 years(1 in the last 6) and a perpetually inept offense. arrow is pointing down on the bears and will be until they show they are no longer stuck trying to build a team to compete in the 90's nfl

Look at the players Angelo got him either thru the draft or by FA. He didnt help Lovie one bit with the exception of actually getting him a QB and Peppers. The blame falls directly on Angelo and his failure at the draft and will when this already old team gets a year older and there isnt decent enough players to take over for the old guys that still have to play important roles. Lovie Smith stood by his players and played the hand he was dealt. Look at Angelos resume of first round draft picks and you will see possibly the greatest list of failure the NFL has seen with the exception of Tommie Harris and if memory serves me, he wasnt the guy Angelo wanted.

It isnt Lovies fault.

1) coaches have plenty of input on draft picks
2) lovie picks his failure assistants(martz tice)
3) they fail to develop players effectively
4) he has a crap record against winning teams because his teams are mediocre
5) the best offense they've had in his 9 years was ranked 15th and that was in 2006 with ron turner at oc.

I'm not sure if Martini has ever made a post I agree with.

The excuses for Lovie are getting old and frankly, just pathetic.

Of course, but it was Angelo who had the final say, and in the reguard, his track record as a GM has done more to hamper the Bears future then Lovie. Lovie was a defensive coach, and later round picks, Like Peanut, Briggs, etc, were stellar. I highly doubt Angelo gave Lovie full control over first round pick choice when it was Angelos reputation/ job on the line and to think otherwise is just hating on Lovie for the sake of hating. Angelo has a history of falling in love with certain players and taking them reguardless if there is a better player on the board, like the guy who could jump out of a pool and Williams. Sorry, that isnt Lovie.

Tice isnt bad and look at what Martz had to work with. For Matrz's system to work he needed his type of player and he just didnt have it here while he tried to make Hester a WR and failed because the guy just doesnt have the intelligence to be one.

Again, look at what he has to work with. Scrubs for an O-line arent gonna turn into PB'ers with proper coaching. They might get a bit better, but they sure arent gonna be world beaters when they are average to mediocre in the first place. You cant turn chicken crap into chicken salad when your skill set says you are steaming chicken crap.

And on that note, your not gonna be anything but mediocre if you reach on draft picks or draft injured players with valuble first round picks and trade away first rounders and use what you have left on pure garbage, which Angelo did.

The leagues changed. Its not Lovies fault he was given crap to work with.

I mean seriously, does this team need yet another OC coaching change when the biggest problem this team has is an uneffective Offensive line?
