I think getting Eichel would have been easier for this season I believe he's going to the US U18 program next year ... He may make the move to the CHL after that though

There's no way Eichel plays for us next season... Why don't people realize that there's almost zero chance any player strays from the commitment to the USNT, let alone in the middle of year 2.... It's 2014-15 or bust with him.

Confidence... Umm stranger things have happened...

Would the moose really waste a first on a guy they didn't think would report ?

Maybe, because Cam new there was a "10% chance" that they would have Eichel in the lineup before 2014... It's gamble, we all know that... Maybe he won't report, but he's the best player in the draft most say, so it's worth a shot...

Name the last NTDP player to break his contract after one year of the program..

If you're having trouble, it's because I don't think it's happened.

QMJHL Trade Rumors

I heard a rumor at the rink last night that Serge Savard really likes Ross Johnston and there might be a trade coming that looks like this

To PEI-Ross Johnston and Cole Holowenko
To Moncton-Maxime Lagace and a draft pick

He was excited to be drafted by the moose. Clearly they were following because he tweeted about it minutes after he was drafted.. and then deleted the tweet.

If he doesn't report next year I'll say its probably never going to happen, but the Q is quickly becoming a popular choice for U.S. Born players

I really think it will happen.

To me Eichel is a guy they could of taken with a later pick.

They know something. QC must of had a good chance.

Henrik Samuelsson I believe broke his commitment after 1 season. And I believe there is a player, or was a player recently, somewhere in the OHL that broke their commitment after 1 season, but I'm having trouble tracking him down.

That said, your pretty much correct. It's pretty rare for players to break their 2 year commitment at all to the USNTDP.

That said, there are lots of examples of players finishing their 2 years in Michigan and coming up to play in the CHL, so fingers crossed.

True, but Samuelsson didn't leave for the purpose of going to the CHL initially.
He did it because his dad got a job in Sweden, so it's a bit different.

But Matteau played his two years there, so it's a different situation than the Eichel one we're hypothetically talking about...

He didn't really leave. He completed his 2 seasons in the USNTDP, and instead of going the NCAA route, he came to the CHL. Seth Jones did the same thing.

I'm pretty sure he left after one.

He started last year in Modo, mid year left for Edmonton.

I could be wrong.

Yes, he left after one season, but it reportedly takes a hefty sum to break the contract, which is binding.
I'd guess that the money has to come from the player themselves, not a CHL club wishing to have them on their team.
Etem also broke it, I forget if Alexx Privitera broke it or was kicked out, and then there's numerous kids who have been removed for disciplinary reasons.

All in all though, it's rare and I doubt he ever shows.
It's still a dumb pick until further notice in my mind.

Under the table Halifax could give him the money...

I do. They haven't done it, and they won't try. Prove me wrong.

Don't turn this into "one of those threads".

You sure talk a lot for somebody who doesn't know anything...

I get what you're trying to say but you have no connection to the situation whatsoever, but you're talkin' like you're some kind of expert. Why don't you just wait until next season to see what happens instead of whining "OH EICHEL WILL NEVER SHOW UP, OH THE MOOSEHEADS ARE GONNA PAY HIM OFF.".

Lets get back to the topic at hand: Trades.

The Alex Lavoie situation in CB is interesting to me... Seems like hes done with the eagles.

On the Titan side, what we are seeing lately is a good young team deep 4 lines.

On the defense, the acquisitions of Gingras and Delorme are helping already:
Gingras was pairing last season with Gosselin in midget and they are getting along very well.... a pair for the future.
Delorme, in the absence of Brisebois and Fournier in RN, did very well on the top-4 and is showing flashes of somebody who could play #4-5 in Bathurst.

The trade for Pelletier is the one which strikes me as the homerun of the trades for the Titan....he has great potential offensively and gets along very well with Meredith whom he was playing Junior A with.
Walsh could be an interesting acquisition also.
All in all, although we lost Banville,Lyle and McGurty, there are a lot of positive vibes lately around the team.
One last word about Beaudry.....he is better than I thought; I would make that trade back anytime.

Finally Dupont is well liked by the players and is running very intensive practices and utilizes well his 4 lines, making everybody happy.

I would be very happy to finish the season with the present lineup but we could see another trade in the works for a top-6 player before the end of the trading period.
