I wonder if Doug R is laughing?

I wonder of Doug Ris is laughing or shaking his head

When he picked up the first rounder from the Oilers for Rolo

I think it would have been at around number 14 overall

oilers make the playoffs and it goes to 17--still a great deal

but know with the pick maybe turning into 30

I wonder if Doug is shaking his head at some other deals he turned down that may in fact have been better deals.

I know when I heard about the deal--I more or less suggested on the oiler board they should book their t-off times....

now they are 4 wins away from the cup and the only fans that will be watching the final games closer then the oilers and cane fans will be the Wild fans

BTW

I also wonder if Doug Ris is off two minds

Since he is the former head of hockey operation in edmonton and some of the players that are playing are players he help draft or scout?

he must be a little torn

watching some guy he helped draft win the cup or having his current team get a higher draft pick

Even if the trade turns out to be the #30 + 3rd Rnd, I doubt that any other team matched that kind of value. I'm sure there were offers that were close to that though. And I'm sure he would prob. go back and swing a trade w/ a non-divisional team. Not that the value would be any better, but now we have created a beast to deal w/ next year. The right decision was still made at the time though.

We won the Gaborik/Klesla coin flip. We got the #4 pick a/ the lockout. We were due for some bad luck. It's already the #30 in my mind. If it turns out to be the #17, then that's just a bonus.

A 1st round pick for a player that won't sign with you?

It has been a win-win trade for both teams. As Chargers said, 2 picks for a guy who wasn't part of your long term plans is good for the Wild, and a trip to the SC finals for Edmonton, well, bully for them too.

A 1st Round pick for a player who was going to be a UFA and leave Minny anyways is a good return. Hindsight is often 20/20.

If the Oilers want him to stay, he will stay. Either way, it was worth a 1st rounder for this run, ask ANYONE in Edmonton.

I am sorry

u glanced over part of my statement

Untill he got injured it was looking like the wild would get the 30th overall pick for Rolo and not the 17th over all pick(that vegas now says they will get hands down)

I was thinking what Dougies raction is that when he did the deal it was for what would have been the 14th overall pick and now there is a slim chance of it being down in 30

bit of a drop of from 17 to 30 in talent

when the deal was done Dougie thought he had stolen a top 20 pick

And the way it is looking right now, he may very well end up correct.
