I didn't think it was ever really going to. One reason is that because there wasn't enough time, but also because I think not enough people really cared. The gripe about Phoenix isn't that people hate hockey, it's that there isn't an opinion at all.

Not sure what you mean about people here not having opinions. Last election had the biggest turnout in ages. So much so the Maricopa County Clerk's office was overwhelmed with early/provisional ballots that needed to be counted by hand.

Also the Prop 457 people were able to get enough signatures to put it on the ballot in less than three weeks. The difference is they spent around $30 grand obtaining those signatures via paid petitioners. Mr. Jones stated in his concession letter to the city clerk that they had hoped to get donations and do the same thing but it never materialized.

Add to that.... they were trying to get signatures right after a huge election and in the middle of the holiday shopping season.

So there was a lot more factors involved than just people not having an opinion.
