For the record, I voted Wayne Simmonds. He's the better goal scorer, more physical, better PP player, more GWG..etc He's a year older but he's also proven the ability to play both as a checking line player (on the Kings) and as a scorer (on the Flyers).
Two completely different players. I honestly have no idea who to vote for, and I saw pretty much every game they played last year.
Voracek is definitely much more skilled. Above average skater who can enter the offensive zone with his shifty skating and puck skills. Problem is, when he gets into the offensive zone he sometimes does too much. Good passer and vision. He's really impressive to watch live in person.
Simmonds scores almost all of his goals in the dirty area around the crease. Rebounds, deflections, etc. More physical, really solid fighter. He's a fan favorite because he personifies 'Flyers hockey'.
It's a coin flip for me. Went with Voracek because I think he has more upside (I still think he has 60+ point upside).
Voracek will be on the first line and Simmonds won't. Voracek will be amazing playing with Giroux. Voracek is more of an offensive threat while still managing to be better defensively. Simple answer for me.
Both very good wingers. Voracek is more skilled, but I prefer what Simmonds brings to the table, a very rare combination of skill, physicality/toughness, hustle and fighting ability. He's actually a pretty skinny guy, but he's very strong and plays like a beast, which is what really matters. I feel like he's the more unique and valuable player, even if Voracek is more skilled.
