I think a big part of Yakupov's lack of production today is coming down to coaching. Canada has figured out how to shut his line down and give him nothing on the PP but there has been no adjustment on the Russians part.

Yakupov has been noticeable in a negative way today because he's trying and failing. He's ALMOST making something happen but the Canadians are doing a great job of giving him little space. He's Canada's top defensive priority right now. The Russian coach needs to mix the strategy up a little here. Give the Canadians something they aren't expecting...

He just doesnt stand out as a top prospect.
The thing about yakupov is that he is covered at every moment of the game because he is the biggest threat, example is the pp, ouellette slid out on him every time the one timer pass comes out, if you give yakupov space you are done he's too fast, wait till he's on the oilers and he's not the center of attention

Mackinnon with 2 bad penalties this game as well, just burying himself on the depth chart by doing that.
He had a real prime scoring chance too and blew the shot.
I feel bad for the kid. Drouin on the other hand is making the most of his opportunity.

He's still moved the puck well on the PP IMO, he can't score goals when the puck if off his stick. His shot looks very dynamic as does his skating and passing. The kid looks like an offensive threat, not getting the hate for him this morning (not directed at you).

As an OHL regular goer, I was SO pissed when we passed on Jenner with that pick. I had him ranked somewhere around 12-15 on my list that year. I was torn between him and Klefbom at 19 (glad we picked Klefa)

Yakupov will be a good NHLer. He'll provide some nice balance to the group.

We have two skilled "floater" type players who lull you into a trance with their stickhandling until they dazzle you with their vision and intelligence - Eberle and RNH.

Hall and Yakupov add the dynamism factor and this should mesh very well imo.

It's going to be grrreeeeat!

I dont think so.

Take Musil out of our prospect pool and you have zero defensive dmen with nhl upside, unless you are going to count Klefbom as an offensive dman.

Jenner may or may not become an NHL regular. I think the chances that Musil becomes one are probably greater.

Being a bad Canadian... Really want Yakupov to score a goal now. I think he just might.

hopefully ...
I was expecting him to be Stamkos like in this tourney potting in PP slappers left and right. But then again my expectations were based on the youtube highlight reels of his.
Interestingly he is still Russia's top point producer with 4 in 3...

Russian PP is using him more like St Louis.
They need another passing option on the PP.

yeah i don't see the big deal with jenner myself... he looks like a guy destined to be a 3rd/4th line energy guy in the NHL... not saying he is a bad player or anything, but those guys are a dime-a-dozen on the UFA market literally every season

i'm not that high on musil myself, and we won't know what we have for at least another 2 years, but right now i'm still fine with musil over jenner

I think dealing yak if the offer is good is the best outcome for us, we have the game winners in our team already, we dont need to wait and hope that yak turn out to be one. He has a damn good release, but is invisible to many times. If you cant dominate the wjc in a home team favorite, then i put ??? in his mentality and skills.

Oilers biggest problem is going to be fitting RNH, Yaks, Eberle and Schultz on the same PP

I have seen him in khl and thats miles from the Nhl and im impressed in his shot and positioning, but im not sure hes gonna be a nhl star. If we get a real offer in areas we need help, i thinks better to take that. Nuge, hall and ebs is enough!

I've seen Jenner in two playoff series against Niagara. He's not a 3rd/4th line guy, he will be a strong 2nd line center. He's playing the roll of 3rd line center now because of the depth.
