Kulemin is the perfect fit for Pitts...

I know it wouldn't happen, but if I'm Burke I want Sutter...

Obv, Leafs would have to add a Percy or Finn... which amounts to Kulemin & a late first for Sutter...

I can see Engelland, Bortuzzo and Dumoulin being part of our future. Bring alot of what we need on the backend. I'd pack Brooks' bags as soon as they're ready to step in.

He holds value to some teams but he had a down year, so I would expect that even some GMs, who are largely able to overlook single-season successes and failures when establishing value, would probably rate him lower in value than perhaps he ought to be.

That being said, even with his "down" year, he still put up respectable defensive stats and was still a valuable contributor to the Leafs, even if not on the score sheet.

HFBoards, however, is nothing if not hyper-judgemental and defines the concept of "what have you done for me lately" so I would expect almost all posts here to be little to no value. The proverbial bag of pucks commentary.

However, Kulemin and Gunnarsson are two of the few "expendable" Leafs that actually are worth mentioning in trade discussions, so even if people won't admit it, he's still got some value in trade discussions. As to what that is, individually he might get about as high as a late 1st or early 2nd, although he provides more to the Leafs than that kind of pick so if he did get dealt, he'd be in a package.

No way. I wouldn't add to Kulemin. I don't even think I'd trade him for Sutter.

Wow... I would think that most Leaf fans would trade Kulie for Sutter in a heartbeat...

I would be willing to trade Mason Raymond for Kulemin straight up.

I don't see why.

Sutter is great defensively, and is one of those elite 3rd liners. Kulemin has more potential and showed it just 2 seasons ago

He also showed last season how bad he can be too. 2 seasons ago was a fluke based on his abnormally high shooting percentage (much like I don't think he's really as bad as he showed last year with an abnormally low shooting percentage). IMO Kulemin is a 15 goal 15-20 assist forward with size and solid defensive skills. A good third liner on a contender.

Why was 2 years ago a fluke but last year wasn't?

He could definitely hit 25ish goals again if he's with the right centre, Grabovski.

He's producing at a great clip in Russia, he has the talent and a great defensive game.
At worst I see him as a great 3rd liner

I don't think you need to worry about it, since I'm sure most reasonable Pens fans wouldn't sign off on it anyway.

We traded for Sutter for a reason: Shero loves depth down the middle, and Sutter replaces a lot of what Staal brings. If we had wanted to deal Staal for a winger, I'm sure Carolina would've been all too happy to trade us one with a more consistent track record of production than Kulemin instead of Sutter. And then some.

The only way any Pittsburgh fan would want to deal for Kulemin is if he came at a discount due to his down season. Toronto fans err on the side of him returning to form, so there's really no deal to be made here.

Agreed. Shut it down. And if I hear the Raymond proposal one more time from y2k I'm gonna rage

I think you need to re-read my post.

And I don't see him hitting 25 goals again, unless he takes more shots or improves the quality of his shot.

I don't think there's a big difference between Raymond and Kulemin to be honest. Both have hit career highs that I don't think either will approach again, both are coming off disappointing seasons, and both could probably use a change of scenery.

Huh? Leafs fans are more than happy with Kulemin. The offense is gravy with him. He's such a horse both on and away from the puck. Kulemin doesn't need to score to be an impact player. I think I speak for all Leafs fans when I say that I'm quite content with Kulemin if he never scores more than 20 points again.

Fair enough. Then why do Leaf fans constantly either include him in trade offers, or ask about his value?

Before lasat season I think he was probably worth the 10th overall pick. Maybe 8th to some teams.

After last season I'd say he's worth a second rounder because of his cap hit and how much he struggled to put the puck into the net. I imagine he'll be potting 20-25 goals on most years for many years to come. Would be happy to have him on my team.

Beats me. Probably because he's one of the few universally attractive pieces we have? Or maybe casual fans who just come on here to post terrible proposals with their incomplete knowledge, I dunno. You won't hear a single dissatisfied word about him over on the Leafs board, though.

You mean the OP from Pittsburgh with a Pittsburgh player name and picture next to his name?
