You may see Dion Campbell back in the fold for the V-Reds, for the second half.

In today's Gleaner Bill Hunt reports that Dion Campbell will be rejoining the V-Reds for the second half, and will play in the Russian games.

I think Dion's speed (if he's not too rusty) and grit should make an immediate impact on UNB's forecheck, especially in the corners, and may put Geordie Wudrick in the stands.

Btw, talking to one of the V-Reds staff at lunch. Turns out there's only just over 300 tickets left for the Russian game at the AUC. Lots of tickets left for the Saint John game. If the AUC does sell out, which does look likely now, I wonder how much that will help sales in Saint John?

UNB has been missing that over aggressive forechecking that guys like Campbell, Clendenning, Bailey brought. Look back at Nationals in T-Bay against Alberta. It was those guys that stood out in that crucial game.

Putting a former 44 goal scorer in the stands? I think that you have to give that kid ice.

Russians win their first game of their trip 11-2. Can't say I was surprised. Next game is the 27th vs ARMY.

Russia Red Stars are now 2-0 with a second win over ARMY. Army out shot the visitors, but were not able to score.

hey drummer, is the Russian team made up of U21 all-stars from across the country....if so, watch out....I remember seeing an U16 russian team play at a midget AAA tournament and couldn't believe how big the kids were and how much skill and strength they exhibited...it's only when they took their head gear off that you got a sense of how young they were....

From what I understand it is basically a team made up of the best players from their top junior league (the MHL), who didn't make the WJC team.

Seven 21-year-olds on their roster...they lost 10-2 to Yale Friday night, second game in 2 nights with travel from West Pt, NY to New Haven, Conn. Yale hadn't played in 19 days.

It will be interesting to see how they look after playing Thursday and Friday, traveling all the way up here, and then playing Saturday and Sunday.

Also, is there any plan to broadcast or webcast the game from the AUC?

I think you meant to say 'and then playing Sun/Mon'.

I think they'll be fine. Today wasn't a rush-rush day. I believe they organized a charter direct into SJ to save time and it's not a long flight.

No idea on the Rogers, CHSR or a webcast. To bad if they don't - great video opportunity.

I can't imagine it will be. I assume both teams got in to SJ before the storm hit. Doesn't look like I'll be able to make it down there though. Of all the days to get a massive storm...

Josh Kidd is out with a concussion and day to day. He did not play. Chad Denny played both games, but didn't get a ton of shifts. Antoine Houde-Caron played today, but not Sunday.

Everyone in the UNB lineup, other than Josh Kidd and Luke Lynes, is healthy enough to play to start the second half.

Why was the announced attendance 3450 when is was supposedly sold out?

Hope Denny is back in form for the big game against Acadia. Because of the uneven schedule this is the last time the play each other in the regular season.

It used to be 3712. I suspect the official capacity dropped to 3450 when they put in the 3 or 4 new boxes around the top of the rink. Huge crowd last night, could have used a few more thousand seats probably. Hopefully a lot of the new fans come Friday.

So how many 5-on-3 opportunities/goals given up are we up to now?

Unb

If Macdougal is going to be in the lineup, over others, including a former 45 WHL goal scorer. Then he should be making a physical contribution. With his size, I see very little of that. Just take a look at the hard body checks delivered by Swan against several Acadia players. UNB is built on speed and he doesn't have a lot of that!

UNB has plenty of fire power as it is....and MacDougall is much better defensively/killing penalties than said player, and is one of their better face-off guys. Although I do agree, I would like to see him use his size more.
