Imagine the buzz in Montreal if we signed Occean, holy moly!

Just go with a 4-4-2 system

Di Vaio-Occean
Felipe-Bernier-Mallace-Pisanu
Ferrari-Nesta-Rivas-Valentine

I doubt Occean is done with Bundesliga. Sure hes not getting the playing time but im sure he has too much pride to give up after working his way up three German 3rd and 2nd tier.

Bologna isn't asking for a transfer fee but they don't want to buy out his contract. Essentially, that means that we would have to pay him 400k per year until 2015.

If he wants to come they can terminate the contract mutually. So there is a chance we dont sign him.

I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet, but the three that were dropped were: Murat Yakin, Philippe Perret & Davide Morandi.

Does anyone know any of these? what does the calibre of these guys say to the 3 that are left?

Did a quick google research. They're pretty much all ex-swiss international who have modest experience coaching in the swiss d1 and d2 divisions. I'd say we can expect a coach with not that much experience but that will bring a more european tactical style of play. Should fit better with players like Bernier, Felipe and the italians than we could ever hoped for from Marsh.

I woulden't be surprised if the coach is an ex-Ligue 1 coach, especially with the Impact's new relation with L'Olympique Lyonais (Friendly match+Saputo visited their academy @ Lyon)

He's right though. Be butt hurt but it's true. Now it's making slow progress but overall it's nowhere near a "major league" or on the regular Joe's radar.

Say what you want about Blatter, he's the man with most power and influence in the game.

It may not be politically correct what he said but it's the truth.

What do you want MLS to do more? Make a whole development system? They're doing their best but most of that responsibility is on USSF and CSA. The MLS is doing the best it can and its growing steadily. Blatter isn't really fond of the MLS because there's no prom/rel and wants to expand over 20 teams. It's growing and yeah, it might not be a major league yet but did you expect it to be in 20 years compared to leagues that are almost a century old? Do you expect the KHL to overtake the NHL soon? If anything, compare it to the Japanese league who was born around the same years.

It doesn't matter what they're doing or not doing. He didn't put it in nice words, but the MLS is indeed a poor league in general and the North American public as a whole doesn't care or doesn't even know of its existence. It is improving consistently but that doesn't mean it's a good enough league right now.

Anyways... hope they announce the new manager soon. So we can start getting excited about transfers!

NDS was on CTV now he said with the team now with addition of 1 player he feels we can start the season and have good expectations about the season. He doesnt expect us to sign any DP before june depending on the team's position.
