Polite no thank you for both proposals. Coyle is regarded very highly by us. Seto & Zucker are both guys who have a nose for the net, Minnesota needs to keep all of those guys.

The first proposal is very good IMO but the 2nd one really can't be done by the pens. Losing Nisky and despres leaves a massive void in the pens d whenever hockey does resume.

The value is there i just cant see the wild doing either. They are too high on coyle to give up un him this early in his development. At this point were set on F prospects and need D but i cant see us trading scoring for D seems like a lateral mov IMO. i would much rather continue to develope the D we have and continue building our D prospect pool through the draft..

Neautral party here, I can see why either side declines however Coyle fits need for the Penguins although probably next hockey season in the NHL.

For Minnesota, Despres is a guy who could step in right now, plus he's cheap and works within your cap.

I don't think i'd do the 2nd deal however if I am Minnesota, I would not want to deal 2 forward prospects.

Since when has Seto been considered a prospect....? And while I like him, 19 goals isn't exactly top six caliber.

Would love Despres on the Stars. Wing prospect + Dillon seems like a decent start to me, at least.

I'd seriously consider the first one so it must be pretty fair.

If I didn't have Coyle penciled in for Parise/Koivu's RW I'd be in favor of adding another D.

Zucker ain't being dealt.

Saint John Sea Dogs fan here. Watched them both ALOT, Simon for 3 years, Coyle for half a year.

Id take Simon, no reflection on Charlie, but Simon is my guy..he is a top 4 D man, Charlie is a top 9 forward.

I don't think Simon will be traded for a winger, at least not this season. Pens will probably need him on the Blue Line when the season finally starts up.

and that second proposal definitely won't happen. Pens' D would be like 50% rookies.

I like Coyle a lot, but not for Despres. Simon Despres has already shown he has the poise to handle the NHL regularly, and will continue to be an underrated defensemen for his career. His play in the playoffs against our top rival was quite impressive.

Pittsburgh can get something more for Despres; if he were available.

Proposal B works.

Pittsburgh do not like Swedes since Markus Naslund.

Setoguchi can be the new Richard Park.

Im with you on this one, I love Charlie Coyle, but the school transfer showed some immaturity and means the Pens will have to wait at least a year if not 2. Despres is going to be in the lineup when hockey resumes and will be top 4 for years to come. I think if the Pens are going to move any dmen, you are looking at Strait, Martin, Lovejoy, Bortuzzo or Niskanen, but only Niskanen if it brings help back now. Dealing him for future isnt going to help a run to the cup

Who are the Swedes here?

Matt Niskanen - Virginia, MN, USA
Simon Després - Laval, QC, CAN

Devin Setoguchi - Taber, AB, CAN
Charlie Coyle - East Weymouth, MA, USA
Jason Zucker - Newport Beach, CA, USA

Minnesota's D looks like a disaster after Suter, so Coyle for Despres might not be a half bad decision...

While I'd like to see a defenseman added, if the Wild are going to move significant assets, I'd prefer to see a more NHL proven defender coming back. Nothing against Despres (or really any of the fine Pens defensive prospects), but they're not the type of defenseman I'd personally target if I were making the decisions.

I'd have no qualms about moving any of Coyle, Dumba, 2013 1st Round, etc.; but it's need to be for an established defender. Granlund, Brodin, and Zucker are not going anywhere, IMO. But beyond them I think most all are fair game, in any combination, along with potentially Clutterbuck/Setoguchi, for the right deal. I don't think this is the right deal.

I think Despres would be the perfect type of dman required in EDM, what would it take from EDM to get him.

All hands, no "Finnish"...finish...

Coyle would be nice...but not for Despres. Despres and Morrow are about as untoughable as it gets for Pittsburgh. Those two are going to be play key roles in the future of the Pens defense.

Seto for Martin?

Come on now does Pitt really need another legit top 6 fwd, Crosby, Malkin, Kunitz, and Neal. They can just fill the gaps in. You can only spend so much on your top 6 and then you wont be able to afford anything else.

Yeah, how dare Crosby get two legitimate top 6 linemates.

If there's a season, I'd put the odds at .01% that Sid doesn't get an upgrade on his RW.

To me, 19 goals seems exactly like your average 2nd liner. I could be wrong, but I think Boston was the only team with 6 players who scored 20 last year. I think it's fair to say he has the potential to be a regular 20+ scorer down the road in the right situations
