The writer discusses if Clowe could be a cap casualty in SJ. It'd be nice to have Snow make a pitch.

This article discusses the writer's expectation, of a flooded ufa market.

But what will the effect of the entire league trying to get under a tighter cap (and lower floor) have on the market for their union brethren?

Supply and demand would suggest the summer of 2013 would be a less-than-ideal time to be looking for work as an NHL player.

Not only would every team have less money to spend, a good number of them would be feeling the sting of having bought out high-priced players on long-term deals so that they can go about filling out their rosters.

i am looking forward to the free agent period following the end of the lockout. (whenever that may be)

I hope that we sign some of the other teams cap causalities so we can round out the roster, to allow some of our prospects to develop longer, and to push some players down the depth charts.

Either way, it should be a fast paced few weeks if this deal does get hammered out in the next few days.

A flooded market can only benefit our isles, when Snow will be faced with the loss of Vis+ Streit on his blueline.

Streit staying, is not only gonna be Snow's decision. Just like Parenteau's staying was not totally up to Snow.

Make your best offer and hope the soon to be ufa accepts.

You can't compare Streit and Parenteau. Streit is our captian and other than his freak injury has been our number one and has been a rock for us. Parenteau is only proven playing top minutes with John Tavares and has never had his big pay day while Streit is a proven top pairing 50 point defenseman. As long as we don't low ball Streit, which we won't Streit will retire an Islander. We need him, I don't really think we need Parenteau for the next four years.

You're missing the point. No one knows how Streit feels. He may very well seek more money or a winning team in the UFA market, it's not all up to the Islanders.

No, I get the point. I just don't see Streit as that type of guy. Time will tell.

With the lockout ending, Jamison's reportedly ready to complete the sale of the Phoenix Coyotes. Oh, the crying from the relocation vultures

Report: Jamison on verge of announcing Coyotes purchase
Jason Brough

It appears another long, frustrating NHL story may be over, as Sportsnet’s John Shannon reports that Greg Jamison’s investor group is on the verge of announcing its purchase of the Phoenix Coyotes from the NHL.

I didn't see this one coming.

There's plenty of speculation that it's related to the Luongo trade. If the Leafs do acquire Luongo, I hope it's at a steep price.

Not surprised Burke got fired, just very surprised at the timing. Why now?? Just a bizarre turn of events now with the announcement that Burke will stay with the leafs as a senior advisor.

Did they hire their backup goalie to be GM?

Yeah I'm surprised too. I always thought Burke did a good job but his biggest flaw was not getting a goalie. If he acquired Luongo, even at a big price of (just for spit balling) a first, Bozak and Kadri I think the Leafs would have done well. They have nice D pieces for the future and if you have Luongo backing you for the net decade you are guaranteed some good success.

You win. Close the thread.

I didn't expect this at all. I can't wait to see what they hire behind them considering the bang up job they've done to date.

Any TO fans reading this should not see it as a jab at them. I feel bad for you guys despite the million or so stupid threads you made demanding Tavares for a 4th rounder and Komisarek (that, I don't forgive). I just think you have been cursed almost as badly as we have been with ownership. I'd fear their next move if I were you.

Probably opened his big yap to some Rogers or Bell exec and pissed them off. Remember, new corporate owners and they only took control in late Aug.
