All-purpose Head Coaching hires thread

Post all rumors/speculation/news about who the 7 teams without HC's are pursuing or will be pursuing right. With so many of them, I felt this was a must.

Once the hiring is confirmed, a thread should be created to discuss that hiring.

The Cleveland Browns aren't the only team with Oregon coach Chip Kelly atop their wishlist. The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that Kelly is the team's "prime target" to replace Andy Reid.

NFL.com's Albert Breer has reported for weeks the Eagles are interested in Kelly, and it appears he is above all other candidates on the Eagles' list.

Fox Sports insider and NFL Network contributor Jay Glazer reports that Falcons defensive coordinator Mike Nolan will interview with the Eagles this week. Falcons offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter and Falcons special teams coach Keith Armstrong will also interview, according to the Inquirer.

I am reporting the Cardinals are very close to a deal with Andy Reid to become the team's next head coach. #AZCardinals #Eagles #NFL

Other reports have also suggested that Reid is the favorite to land the Cardinals job. Jason La Canfora of CBS and Mike Jurecki of XTRA are among those who have reported that Reid is expected to land the job.

Looks like the Bills have 5 names on their list.

Quote:
NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reported Monday that Lovie Smith is interested in coaching the Buffalo Bills, but the former leader of the Chicago Bears will have competition for the role.

On Tuesday, Rapoport reported, via sources who have spoken with the candidates, that fired Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt and Ray Horton, Arizona's current defensive coordinator, will meet with Bills personnel and interview for the head-coaching vacancy in Buffalo.

Whisenhunt's interview will take place Tuesday night in Arizona, Rapoport reported.

...

The Bills are a busy bunch. They reportedly plan to interview Syracuse coach Doug Marrone, and ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the team also asked for permission to interview Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy.

Andy Reid has emerged as the leading candidate to become Arizona's next HC and could be named to job by end of the week, per league sources.

So safe to say Kolb will remain their starting QB...or Vick if the Eagles cut him?

Reid could easily put together staff with guys like Juan Castillo, Pat Shurmur, Brad Childress. Also, Reid could work with Kolb if need be

@JasonLaCanfora
And, as i first reported, Ray Horton met with the Bidwells today, so Cards have complied with the Rooney Rule. Sounds like Reid to AZ, ASAP

@JasonLaCanfora
At this point, I'd be looking for Reid in AZ, Arians in SD, Whisenhunt in BUF. CLE and PHI going after Bill O'Brien

Wow feel bad for Cardinals fans if this proves true, especially if Vick ends up following Andy. It failed miserably in Philly, so just rinse and repeat in Arizona and expect different results?

Looks like a whole lot of recycling going to be happening with head coaches...so where will Norv Turner surface as head coach?

Reid is good enough coach to get another job, he just shouldnt bring Vick. Kolb should be the starter imo, and I think bidwell said the other day they havent given up on him.

Id love for the Eagles to get BOB, just dont see him leaving PSU after a year.

If true about Shurmur, Childress, and Castillo joining Andy, it would seem that Reid will be trying to rekindle that magic he had during his best years in Philly (plus, he owes Castillo, IMO). I dub this "Operation: Back to the Future."

True, but if they were available I'd bet he'd be asking.

I don't know how Bill O'Brien would being any credibility having left Penn State after one year and begging those kids not to leave. If he leaves, the NCAA should give them another transfer period without having to sit out a year.

The speculation about Lovie to Bills makes me chuckle. Buffalo seems to love former Bear head coaches

Jauron went there to HC
Wannstedt was there DC this past year

Ian Rapoport ‏@RapSheet
Per source, what will Andy Reid's pitch to the #Cardinals will be: "I can fix Kevin Kolb." Arizona would like to keep Kolb if possible.

Kolb wasn't impressive under Reid in Philly and ended up losing his job to Vick

He was Ok. He played pretty well in hist two starts in 2009. In 2010 he got concussed the 1st game and then Vick had a great season but did start a few games when Vick was injured in which he was average. He played well this year behind a dreadful offensive line until he got hurt. If Reid were to go there and take Juan Castillo there a Oline coach(the defensive coordinator), I think that point of their team will improve. He is a very good offensive line coach.

Buffalo News also reports that they will interview Russ Grimm. Wisenhunt, Horton, and Grimm...too much liking for Cardinals if you ask me...

Apparently they will also take a swing at Chip Kelly. The "brain trust" of newly promoted Team President Russ Brandon, GM Buddy Nix, and Assistant GM Doug Whaley have traveled to the desert to interview the Cardinals coaches and apparently with the Ducks in Tempe for the Fiesta Bowl will try to get to him there.

Should be noted that while Lovie Smith has indicated a preference for the Bills and Cardinals jobs, the Bills haven't made any indication they are interested. With Reid looking likely for Arizona...if the Bills want Lovie, they'll get him...but we don't know that they want him to begin with.

Lovie seems to be getting a lot of love for a guy that has made the playoffs once in six years. Mind you Buffalo seems committed to hiring guys that have been fired by other organizations.
