Slightly OT due to the sport... Was watching the summer Olympics broadcast from London and saw a guy in the crowd wearing a Tampa Bay Rays hat. Wasn't expecting that.
That would have been funny to see, don't know how I would have missed seeing you guys at some point in the night. The next funniest thing about that night would have been 5-10 of us diehard Panthers fans in the building (that shocks people enough, you guys probably made them rub their eyes twice and grab there chests for more air).

Saw a guy sporting mad bruins gear in treasure beach Jamaica. Pretty sure he never watched a game in his life though. Met some Bruins fans in Gold Coast Australia but they were from Boston going to school there.

When I went to Vegas last year, I wore my Jets jersey at night. Turns out there are a lot of Jets fans that visit/live in Vegas.

I also went to the Mayan Riviera in Mexico for a friend's wedding. There was a surprising amount of Jets memorabilia. Bought myself a Jets Poncho . Not too many locals knew of the NHL though unless they were selling their (fake) stuff.

Ran into a Sabres fan in Budapest, Hungary, and we watched the first round of his Sabres vs. Flyers, and my Canucks vs. Blackhawks in 2011 on his laptop halfway across the world.

I saw a guy wearing an Ott shirt in Hastings once.
That is now 5 people I understand to be familiar with hockey in my 200,000+ metropolitan area.

Seen a few people in Southend and the surrounding areas with NHL stuff.

Guy at Dagenham and Redbridge v Southend had a Ducks hat, saw a guy walking back from a Southend game with a Islanders fleece/sweater. Guy who sits behind me has a New York Rangers hat. Saw a guy in Asda in Basildon with a Leafs hat.

Someone at my college wears a Pittsburgh Penguins jersey and I knew two people at school who watched it. One was a Pittsburgh fan the other a Calgary fan.

I work at a sports store in St. John's. It's mind blowing how many people come in looking for odd teams. I'm an Avalanche fan which is pretty weird here but when I tell my story of how I followed Patty Roy as a 5 year old it makes sense. What doesn't make sense is the random blue jackets, panthers and hurricanes fans that come into the store. I'm sure they all have stories similar to mine but it's still unexpected. I guess since St. John's doesnt have any major teams the fan base is pretty much open to anyone. It's like this for all sports. We have had numerous houston astros, arizona dbacks, kc chiefs and even a cleveland browns fan.

There's an Avs jersey on the wall of the bowling alley there as well

I lived in Tucson, AZ for 3 years and while I was there hockey wasn't much on anyone's radar screen. But at an airshow in 2012 I was surprised to see several folks wearing NHL gear (Coyotes, Flyers and some other teams too). I suspect they were transplants or traveling to see the airshow but it was still good to see folks out sporting some hockey apparel.

There is a Leaf joke here somewhere. Something about the NHL not existing for Leaf fans outside of Toronto.

Do you mean Saint John, NB? Was it a shop that sold coins and other currency too? If so I purchased a Devils pennant from your shop this summer while on vacation there!

I thought to myself what are the odd's off seeing another NHL fan in a small city like that, because Columbus is a fair distance from Lima and their local Walmart store doesn't sell anything Blue Jackets related. All they had was Ohio State, Cincinnati Reds and Cincinnati Bengals merchandise for sale. So has anyone ever been in a small town and was surprised to see another NHL fan?
You mean you didn't eat at Breadsticks?

Seriously though, I went to a Winnipeg Jets hockey bar in Mexico last year.
