My bad. I'm a lifelong Pens (3 cups) and Steelers fan (2 SB).

I followed the Steelers/Pens since I was six or seven and for twenty years never saw the Steelers win a SB until 05, so I know how it feels to lose hope. With the Pens, they won their first cup about 5 years after I started following them.

The loyal fans in Buffalo deserve to see a championship in a SB or SC.
I agree here. No city has come even close to Buffalo in championship heartbreak. No city gets less credit for supporting their team.

Only the Flames share the level of controversy over losing in the finals, though the Sabres loss is less forgivable because of the nature of the review process.

For the fact that Toronto did everything in its power to block every Canadian expansion I hope they never win another Cup, ever.

Hockey - Toronto Maple Leafs
Football - Oakland Raiders
Basketball - Cleveland Cavaliers
Baseball - Chicago Cubs

You'd be treated like a god winning a cup in Toronto.

No real reason for Oakland...just wouldn't mind winning there.

Winning it for the Cav's would do something James couldn't do.

And winning for the Cubs would make you an instant legend.

All the respectable franchises with deserving, long-waiting fans. NYR, Toronto, Montreal, St.Louis, Philly, Washington, I'd even throw Sharks in there.

Lots of places I'd like to see the Cup go.

Buffalo
MLB team - none
NFL team - Bills (last championship: 1965. Super Bowl appearances 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993)
NBA team - none
NHL team - Sabres (last championship: none)

Cleveland
MLB team - Indians (last championship: 1948. World Series appearances 1954, 1995, 1997. All ended in crushing heartbreak, 1997 especially)

NFL team - Browns (last championship: 1964. Super Bowl appearances, none. Three AFC championship game losses in four years to Denver, two of them in crushing fashion. The Browns also left town in 1995, and have since been replaced by an abortion in orange and brown)

NBA team - Cavaliers (last championship: none. NBA Finals appearances, 2007. Along the way has been everything from Jordan's shot over Ehlo to LeBron's "decision" to be a gutless SOB.)

NHL team - None, since the Barons lasted only two seasons before merging with the next-worst team in the league.

Hockey: Quebec City (built a cup winner only to have Colorado claim it)
Baseball: MTL Expos ('94 was theirs)

Both robbed of their Champeenships

Haha, yeah, but I was thinking within the narrow confines of teams with NHL franchises. Your reasoning is fair though, since I took other sports into consideration. But I only considered cities in the Stanley Cup mix. I should have said no other NHL city has had as much heartbreak across it's entire pro sports landscape, without championship success as Buffalo.

Current Stanley Cup droughts (19 years, min.)

I'd drop the Coyotes out, as Phoenix fan hasn't suffered that long. I'd also dump the Isles and the Oil as they both have had multi Cup dynasties within living memory. Flyers and Flames discount down for similar reasons. And Toronto drops a notch or two, just 'cause.

So, my unbiased (except Toronto) list...

St. Louis
Vancouver
Buffalo
Washington
San Jose
Toronto
Ottawa
Philadelphia
Calgary

Probably Minnesota, just because the state of hockey winning its first Stanley Cup would undoubtedly be humongous. Buffalo, Toronto, and St. Louis are also considerations.

As for other sports, putting my fandom aside (though I am a Cubs fan)....

MLB - Chicago Cubs, still.... for drought reasons.
NFL - Cleveland Browns, also for drought reasons in every sport.
NBA - Don't care enough, to be honest.
NCAA - ..... honestly don't know, can't take my Illini fandom out of the picture here.

Cleveland

Someone clearly did not look up the history of the Buffalo Braves; they carried the Buffalo winning tradition to the LA Clippers.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going back to the Ken Whisenhunt watch.

Hmm.

Hockey - Vancouver. It's just sad at this point, although I'm itching for one in Philly myself...ugh just look at that list, most subsequent losses on there!

Football - Eagles, and I hate the stinkin' Eagles. But man it's getting desperate here.

Baseball - Cleveland, I just feel sorry for the city, they need something to cheer about.

Basketball - Toronto, because it's be hilarious for their next championship to be in that sport lol.

We would win, riot, realize we didn't lose and then rebuild the city. That is at least 3 reality shows rolled into one.
No, it's because your citizens supported the Leafs.

hard for me to pick anyone but philly...6 trips to the finals since '75 and 0 for 6 in that stretch.

but if i had to, probably buffalo or toronto. those teams would be instantly memorialized.

I would pick San Jose. If I were going to bring a championship to a team I would have to play in their city. I am thinking San Jose is the best city to play in of the NHL cities.

Actually, it's because Vancouver purportedly had a ridiculously weak expansion bid as they assumed they were a shoe-in and one of the six spots was forcibly taken by St. Louis in order to get Chicago's support. Leafs and Habs not wanting to share Canadian TV revenue certainly didn't help, though.

I'd say either the Preds or the Jackets. If I have to choose one, I'd take the Jackets. Ohio sports fans deserve something to cheer about.
