MAtS was amazing for gladbach as they took a point off of Bayern. Gladbach even had a great chance to make it 2-0 in the first half but couldn't, and then held on as well as they could. Great way to kick off the final weekend before the winter break.

Eintracht Frankfurt and Mainz in the CL race but both Schalke and Dortmund have a match in hand so that will most likely change

Massive result for Fortuna who are now 12 points above the drop and 9 points above the relegation playoff position.

Furth-Augsburg play to a draw with neither side will be happy with and nor does it help them much. Both sides only won 1 match in 17! I guess it still looks manageable on paper with Hoffenheim only 3 points above them but they will need to probably win at least half of their games in the second half in order to have a chance to survive. I can’t see Furth doing it, maybe Augsburg can conjure up something like they did last season, but that coach has to go

Schalke losing badly to Freiburg at home, think Stevens will be the next coach sacked, surprised Weinzierl is still at Augsburg but I guess they have no choice (small budget, long term contract?)

I don't think Schalke should fire Huub, that team is totally drained, but they started amazingly well and are still doing great in the CL. They may need to make a winter signing to boost their depth and spark the team, but a good long rest will do them and Hannover a great deal of good.

well they sacked him

don't really have an opinion of it I must say.

It just seems like we are missing Rául after all- The team looks way worse going forward than last season, and not just since they began to slump. They have grinded out most of the few goals they score this season. That's a giant difference to last campaign where in just about every game they played, they scored some sort of highlight-reel material goal.

Schalke continue to struggle, they lost at home to Mainz and are eliminated from the DFB Pokal. Kickers Offenbach also defeated Fortuna Dusseldorf. Other winners today in the cup were Freiburg and Bayern Munich

Tomorrow the other four winners will be known to set up the quarterfinals

Getting knocked out of the Pokal will be a blessing for Schalke, still having the CL knockouts to worry about and as well as the league, they need as much rest as they can get.

Mitchell Weiser signs for Kaiserslautern from Bayern on loan for 6 months (dare say it would be extended for another year if we go up)

Bit out of left field that one, not complaining

Yeah, saw that, and was pretty happy for both of my teams involved here. Seems like a perfect situation for Weiser to get into. I hope he can get some playing time, help Lautern earn the promotion and the loan gets extended for another year. Looking forward to seeing how this shakes out!

Yeah I'm interested to see how he goes, apparently Leverkusen, Augsburg were interested in him as well, so pretty happy we managed to snag him.

Heintz signs a contract extension to 2016 today, with no release clause, pretty awesome considering BL clubs have been sniffing around a bit.

"I’m very grateful for the trust the coach and the club officials are showing in me. I am absolutely happy at the club and I extended my contract because it is my dream to win promotion with the Red Devils at the end of the season and play in the top flight with my club"

Kuntz is getting busy in the market, Drazan looks set to sign, Bah and Kayhan are on trial from Stuttgart/Besiktas. And this comes after Jarolim opted to pull out of a deal to sign with FCK for this season.

And Mainz just lost their best CB, I thought Christmas was 2 weeks ago

I'm interested to see how this Weiser situation shakes out.

We just signed Drazan (LW), and Pawlowski (RW) from Lubin in Poland is rumoured to be signing in a matter of days.

Right Wing:
- Weiser
- Zuck
- (Pawlowski)

Left Wing:
- Bunjaku
- Drazan
- Derstroff

Obivously Fortounis is missing from this list, but with these signings it means he's either a) moving to Wolfsburg or Dortmund (unlikely given Perisic was sold) b) being moved to CAM -> A move that I like, as this is Fortounis natural position, and Baumjohann needs more competition in the middle as IMO he's been slack at times.

I guess we could also move Bunjaku to CF if the young Pole striker doesn't sign, personally I don't find this a bad move either, I don't think LW is Bunjaku's best position.

Also love the Löwe signing by Kuntz, apparently had an offer from Hoppenheim, but chose to sign for FCK, was the most needed position this window, to get a new LB, as Jessen is at best a back up, and I suspect Bugi will hang them up at the end of the season.

This is how I have the team right now... (Apparently Bah will be signing in a couple of days, been seen having a couple of drinks with some FCK players last couple of days - not something you'd do if you weren't signing I reckon)

-----------------Sippel---------------
---Dick---Torrejon--Heintz---Löwe---
-----------Borysiuk----Bah-----------
-Zuck--------Fortounis------Bunjaku-
----------------Idrissou--------------

Subs:
Hohs(GK)
Abel
De Wit
Baumjohann
Weiser
Drazan
Micanski

Reserves:
Müller (GK)
Riedel (RB)
Simunek (CB)
Orban (CB)
Hajri (CB)
Jessen (LB)
Linsmayer (DM)
Azaouagh (AM)
Derstroff (LM)
Wolfert (CF)

Injured:
Yahia (CB)
Alushi (DM)
Zellner (DM)
Amri (RM)

Potentially add Pawlowski (RW) and Teodorczyk (ST) then that's one hell of a team, for the 2nd division. Even if they are not starters, it's about having depth, something which affected us in the first half, when we had to bring up some meh players from the 2nd team.

holtby plays terrible for the last 10 games, now reminds us why he won't be easy to replace. **** off

Kidding, nice potentially last game by him.

2 mins of stoppage time, so ridiculous, i hate german football for that

helps schalke now, but still

nice goal diouf

Our defense looks even worse than before the break.
No Europe for Hannover this season. Won't win vs Bremen next week either.

2nd half in Germany is always interesting because of the large break, I remember Freiburg last season last place and had a great run in spring season to finish mid table

And don't forget they sold Cisse before that run too. I wouldn't expect the same this season. I mean if they did we're talking CL ball. It's crazy though that they were 5th going into the break this season. Streich has done a really good job. Seems like a really interesting guy. Kruse looks a good buy in the offseason too.
