If it's comprehensive I think it's gonna be 400+ pages. The old one is 427 or somethjing

A lot of the stuff is staying the same though, wouldn't it be okay to leave it out?

Or at least finally put it in to terms that don't take days to read

I'm not saying they are. I'm just saying isn't Jan 2nd an important day in that timeline?

Maybe this is helpful.

David Pagnotta ‏@TheFourthPeriod

NHLPA doesn't HAVE to file disclaimer tmrw... If **** hits the fan, they can have another vote and that'll allow them to file at later date

jan 2 by midnight is when the disclaimer must be filed by the PA if the union dissolves. If they don't, then the process of a player vote authorizing Fehr would have to happen again. I basically call it a phantom deadline, since they can basically re do it.

but so far things are looking good that it won't come to that.

I've read they can still disclaim, but continue talks until the process plays out, and if they get a deal, then they can not disclaim.

Seems like the major sticking point right now is pensions. NHL/NHLPA had a small meeting this morning regarding pensions. That's a positive, the more they talk, the more they should get resolved. Hopefully they continue to make progress on this issue.

Well its a good thing they are using the time to hammer things out. Instead of the childish game of pointing fingers.
I still think the salary cap number is going to be a tough one to iron out. Many players still need to be signed and the NHL wants the cap lowered in 13/14. Going to be a tough part of the deal to hammer out especially if the 60 million number is a hardline number for the owners.

I will try to find the report from last night, but someone said the NHL would be willing to go to 65-68 million for 13-14 year. It all is reliant on them giving into other demands like the length of the CBA.

I am sure there would be some give on that cap number. I would expect the PA would have to give up something to get closer to the cap number they would like. Personally I am all for a long CBA like the NBA has. I am getting tired of this stupidy.

For next year. This year would be 70.2 million and next year they proposed 60 million, which will destroy half the league. I can not find the report I read last night though when someone said they could settle right around 67.5 for the cap next year if the PA agrees to certain thing (CBA length)

I think all the talk of a deadline regarding decertification is an internal deadline. If January 2 (or 4, whichever is correct) passes without decertifying, nothing is stopping them from decertifying in the future if talks stall or circumstances change.

I just dont understand how the NHL is pushing for the 60 million dollar number. How many teams will still be over or near 60 million with players to sign going into 13/14. I get that the cap probably needs to come down but slashing the cap by 15% in one season doesnt seem realistic.
Maybe the NHL is just using it as a bargining chip to get the PA to come off some of their other demands. but I just have a hard time believing that a majority of the owners approve of a 60 million dollar cap number for 13/14 with a ton of unsigned players. many of them stars.

Don Cherry ‏@CoachsCornerCBC
I have heard time and time again on the sports news and in the papers that if the NHL and the PA had started negotiations on CBA in June it

Don Cherry ‏@CoachsCornerCBC
would have been settled by now. Sounds right but Donald Fehr likes to go to the brink, til the bitter end, it's his style. Which is why

Don Cherry ‏@CoachsCornerCBC
I said it would be mid January when a deal would be done and that's when the deadline would be
