WJC Players to NHL Comparables

I always enjoy watching these tournaments and predicting what kind of player a player might turn out like...

Here are just a few

Grigorenko – His style (stick-handling/skating) reminds soo much of Jagr
Yakupov – Maxim Afinogenov
Trouba – Doughty
Galchenyuk – Malkin
D. Hamilton – S. Weber
Jenner - M. Richards

After watching the Russia vs. Swiss game I could not get over how much Grigorenko resembled Jagr, hence this post. Not saying he will put up points or have as good a career like Jagr did, but hell he looks like him at a young age.

Please add on...Always makes for a good read

Think of that every time I see him find the open man and lay a perfect pass on the tape.

I would almost have said the opposite regarding Trouba and Hamilton. Trouba really reminds me of Shae Weber.

When I look at Drouin I think of a more heavily playmaking Pat Kane.

IMO, Trouba's looked more like Shea Weber than Hamilton so far this tourney, though I haven't watched as much Canadian games as US.
Also not sure about Yakupov/Afinogenov comparison that a lot of people seem to be making lately. Max always looked like his feet were ahead of his hands. Yak has great skating and great hands -- it's his thinking/decision-making pace that looks like it isn't keeping up right now.

Joel Armia - Thomas Vanek (from the goal-scoring to the dumb, lazy offensive zone penalties)
Seth Jones - Alex Pietrangelo (needs to be more consistent defensively, but clearly all of the tools to be an elite two-way defenseman are there)
Mikhail Grigorenko - Big Joe Thornton (offensively...Grigs has a ways to go before having a comparable all-around game, but the size coupled with the vision/passing skill makes them similar to me)

How short sighted of HFBoards to start making player comparable after watching Jr. gimmick sample sizes of about 5 games.

Most of the people who have posted have seen these players more than just in this tournament.

I have seen Morgan Reilly play live 7-8 times, and on tv a few other times. I have watched Galchenyuk on tv, same goes for Jenner, Grigorenko, and Yakupov. Why would the WJ be the only time people have seen some of these players??

Boone Jenner - Mike Richards basically season ticket holder
Ryan Murphy - Ian White when they come into town and some roadtrips - maybe 3 times a year
Jonathan Drouin - Claude Giroux Once live and have been following a little bit with the hype
Mark Sheifele - Jason Spezza Similar to Murphy in terms of viewage
Griffin Reinhart - Tyler Myers Admit that i haven't seen much
Dougie Hamilton - Duncan Keith When dogs are in town
Morgan Rielly - Kris Letang Have kept an eye on because he is a leafs prospect
Anthony Camara - Cal Clutterbuck Same as Sheifele

more than just the tournament.
