NHLPA made a counter offer to the NHL. League is looking at it and both side should meet again tonight.

DarrenDreger: Entering day, PA wanted NHL to share pension cost. Perhaps bigger issue: teams' ongoing liability to pay the pension after CBA expires.

DarrenDreger: Overall pension debate evolves around complex differences. 2 sides hoping to meet around 8pm.

it concerns me a little that they're getting hung up on an issue that was said to be resolved already. Makes me wonder if they're just running in circles at this point.

I think they've been doing that since day 1.

1 step forward, 20 steps back.

Wonder how many other "solved" issues will appear.

Just wait until the agree to a new CBA but can't agree to the "transition" BS and cancel the season.

From NHL player: "How they respond to our latest proposal will determine if we disclaim or not." Huge meeting tonight to say the least

I wonder what the threshold his for that...like are they expecting the NHL to take their offer or are they willing to take another counter-offer?

I like your idea but it would be a problem with travel. maybe do a modification of it and have it be just the divisional rival to do the back to backs? or perhaps have 1 team host two night in a roll then other can host a little laterin season? I definitely agree though it's a good idea

Not to mention sometimes stadium arrangements just dont allow for such scheduling

Coming after July’s give-back demands, the “hill we’ll die on” and “the offer is off the table” theatrics, the NHL’s theatrics appeared petulant and distracted after Fehr’s deliberate strategy.

It’s been instructive to watch the indignation from hockey management types when Fehr has had the temerity to negotiate the same way they do.
"Vibrating like a tuning fork." Precisely.

Yep. That's what I've been saying all along.

Sorry to be a broken record (remember those?), but I sincerely hope the owners pay handsomely for their arrogance & greed. Especially Jacobs. Owners/management have run roughshod since the league was founded. "Chattle" indeed. Not this time.

It's hilarious & gratifying to watch Bettman, JJ, & Co. sputter indignantly as they meet their match.

God bless Donald Fehr.

Because in the real world, the people paying the money don't usually have things go their way or anything while the employees are lucky to get any concessions at all. God Bless Fehr for half a season missed and potentially more!

edit: Not that I think the owners aren't at fault as well, but if there is a side to take, in my opinion it would be the NHL's side. The players truly are like cattle with a few naively throwing out tidbits on Twitter thinking it makes them heroes or something.

Yes, god bless him. What a wonderful experience this has been. My life in some so much better knowing that the players will have a better pension now.

Well, to both of you: Let's agree to disagree.

Whether it was Don Fehr or someone else, my desire is an unhappy boot to the backside of the owners. Without litigating the past, same would be richly deserved.

End rant. For now. ;-\

The NHL and NHLPA have been meeting for an hour now. The media is waiting in the NHL office.

Don't these tools know that they hold our lives and sanity in their hands?

The later this goes, the better, IMO. The more stuff they probably got done working out to get us closer to having NHL hockey back.
