You might be right, Truck. But that's an awful 4th line.
It depends how they are used.
They could probably do well in sheltered ice time and beat up pretty good on 4th lines possession wise. Mittens is a good 2 way player despite people disliking him.

Very much agree with this. Though I dont by the hype that slater could play third line I think he's upper class on the fourth. Over the last half of his games mittens waS the highest producing of our bottom six. Thorburn is thorburn = truculence and toe drags (I kid). All in all a pretty decent fourth
Unfortunately, I can't find one at my usual sources. Streams for home games are fairly rare. There's an audio stream on http://stjohnsicecaps.com/ if you want to go old skool.
IceCaps have IMO outplayed the Monarchs heavily in the second period though. Monarchs just sitting on the counter now, got to make them pay for it in the third period.
Not too long ago, the IceCaps had phenomenally poor second periods, so all in all, I'm happy with the game so far. Just score. Soon.
/edit: and they dont. WTF. Thats 8 minutes of 5 on 4, PP is back to its antics.
/edit #2: O'Neill is having one of his worst games of the season.
Disappointing. Every time I watched games I have been disappointed in him. Decent skater, but makes so many mistakes with the puck, and positionally. Just looks lost. He is an older player so he doesn't have the luxury of time to improve his game there. By next year he will need to be a key player in St. John's or his expiry date will have come.
Jones is playing out of his mind. I think everyone gets fired up coming here. Full building, knowledgable fans.
O'Neill scares me every time he has the puck.
As a newly minted Winnipeg Jets fan, I lament how bare is the cupboard.
The Ref Gino Binda who has to be the crappiest ref in the AHL, is guaranteed to be looking for anything to call in the third.
Eddie continues to fight the puck far too often.
I like Telegin. If he can bulk up, he might be good
Particularly when a team like Manchester comes to town...nearly every single player on that roster is a young with an NHL hope (only exceptions are Mannino, Rodney, Johnson) and they are LA's farm team who has drafted late or not all in the first round for quite a few years now...
Why does O'Dell keep getting screwed. He had one of the better ppg last year, but still was a healthy scratch quite a bit. Then this year again he is very high in ppg, but has only play 17 games (has he been hurt?). I think he is a solid prospect, but can't catch a break in St. John's, maybe needs to move on to another organization...
Imo, Mach's problem is, he thinks he's a scorer. He puts up decent numbers in the A, and had some success late last year. But, won't be able to contribute much more than as a 4th line RW, just not sure he's cut out for that bang and grind or energy role a la Thornton in Boston. And the Jets need much more than Mach in their top 9 RW's.
I don't think so. He is not going to be a top 6 player, but I for sure think he can contribute some goals from the 3rd line, while being a grinder and safe player on the 3rd line. I think he can be a 20-15-35 guy from the 3rd line, adding grit and consistent if unspectacular defensive play. I think he realizes this, that was the reason for the fight last season. This year he should be a 4th liner, but by 13-14/14-15 (once he has a full season under his belt) he should be ready for more minutes. At the AHL level he is a scorer though, and the IceCaps need him to be.
IMO Telegin is every bit the prospect Pearson is. Would be nice to stack 3 such players though.
I don't agree. Telegin has the natural skills, but has yet to put the tools together like Pearson. Pearson is smarter with and without the puck, and just overall a more polished prospect, with similar upsides.
