my bad. Andreas Athanasiou 4th round #110 overall is pretty good so far, He has 40 pts 17G 23A in 36 games his previous high was 37pt 22g 15A in 67 games, and has top end speed.
Wow ! He is doing pretty well ! Who was he drafted by ?
I really wish Burke picked up Ebert. Like really, he was top 5 material before the season, this was probably just a bad season, and then LA will be laughing that he was drafted with the last pick of the draft.
I realize there have been threads about this subject in the past but none overly that recent
I also realize that this still incredibly premature to be discussing but since I have a sim league draft approaching and with the WJCs coming to a close I figured now would be as good of time as any to ask the masses on here
Which player(s) taken in the 2012 draft would you select higher today based on they've played over the course of the current season? I am mainly looking for the guys taken in the 2nd-7th rounds but late 1st round picks also would be acceptable.
Some rationale accompanying your player choices would also be very much appreciated
Thanks a bunch in advance and I look forward to hearing all of your responses
Seriously while I understand your intent here how can nay 2012 player be a steal for the NHL club that drafted him?
There are no 2nd rounders surprisingly playing in the NHL this year, just guys getting hyped up and then will be called busts in future threads.
I'm mean I'm sure NHL GM's are happy that some players are progressing better than expected but none are steals until they actually play and produce in the NHL right?
Hasent done anything to show that he should have been picked higher, heck he couldnt even make the swedes with Klefbolm, Lindholm and Brodin out. McCabe, Finn, and Pelech look like they could have been picked higher but none are steals yet.

I would read the rest of the paragraph you are quoting to post a reply instead of posting an argument.
The title of the post I think is just an attention grabber.

I'm rooting for him but he hasn't done anything to be defined as a steal yet.
I really like what Ive seen out of McCabe. He seems sturdy back there, doesn't look to have any under20 jitter moments. (plays like he is a lot older)
McCabe has definitely impressed me at the WJC's. Without having watched much college hockey to make an actual comparison, a look at his stats indicate that he's about twice the offensive player McDonagh was at the same age, and he's been very solid defensively for the US. Too soon to call anybody a steal, but McCabe is looking like an astute pick right now, for sure.

McCabe is the next big thing out of Wisco, I like his chance after wiscos recent suscess.
No player is a steal yet
McCabe has really caught my attention over the WJC. But I think he still projects as a top 4 defensemen, which isn't that what a 2nd round pick should project as anyway?
Going to sound like a huge homer, but Anton Zlobin (PIT - 6th round - 173rd overall).
I've seen him play in Halifax and thought he was exceptionally talented before I even realized he was a Pens pick. Was disappointed he got cut from Russia's WJC team because I felt it'd be a coming out party for Zlobin.
