I think the 4th line is far better than the 3rd line..

Looks like a really solid team. Perhaps the most physical and tough to play against and maybe even defensively responsible. Should be a solid contender for gold.

That might be going a little far.

That being said, in a short single elimination medal round, if Quick is playing well I wouldn't be surprised if they beat anyone.

I love how all these Canadian fans come in here and take these little pot shots. Is your ego so fragile that you feel the need to do this?

3rd D Pairing should be Bogosion-Shattenkirk IMO. E Johnson wouldn't even be on the team

Definetely less skilled than Canada, but its nice to have a couple of Selke candidates who are great at F/O's playing though.

And I don't take that comment as a dig, when you consider that Canada will be running some combination of Crosby, Tavares, Stamkos, Giroux and Staal. Canada will have guys who don't make the team who would be Team USA's #1 center.

This thread isn't about Canada though. It's not even about Canada vs US. It's about the US roster for 2014. I just think it's funny that Canadians feel the need to say things like that.

what do you want, everyone to say "OMG this team is so awesome"? Of course its gonna be compared to other countries' rosters.

Unless Stastny bounces back for hopefully the last half of last season or the first half of 2014, I actually don't want him on this team. Think we can do better honestly.

EJ should definitely be on the team. He's fantastic in Colorado, and internationally has excelled.

Also, in OP's line, Carlson doesnt beat out Shattenkirk

Who saying this team is awesome? It's probably the 3rd or 4th best of the international teams.

Hardly. I freely admit Canada is better. Everyone knows this. I just find it comical that certain Canadian posters feel the need to take shots like that in a thread that's not about their team.

Why? They both excel in a U.S. sweater.

Jack Johnson lives and breathes USA Hockey... I think he would kill himself if he didn't make the team.

Parise - Stastny - Kessel

Brown - Backes - Callahan
That's how I'd have it, the top six is somewhat interchangeable in my opinion though.

You're comically getting defensive over nothing.

You want your team to be the best and match up versus the best, so we're comparing them to the (current) best.

I find it to be a fair comparison.

At least with Jack Johnson, he's a much better player when he plays international hockey. Not sure why but internationally I'd have him out there.

Meh, international hockey is too small a sample size. Give me the player who plays well 80 games a year over someone who plays well 8 games a year. There are several defensemen I would rather have than JMFJ for Team USA.

I think Bfugly should be somewhere on the roster.

Well, considering that Finland has one of the best track records in last 18 years in NT hockey the team on paper means nothing. Well of course it means something, but in a short tournament like the Olympic's every team of the big 6 has chance at the gold.

I like that US team tough.

I think Kane and Ryan in the same line is somehow a bit weird. I mean, both are great playmakers/soft handed players. I kind of see Ryan-Stastny-Kessel a good line and Parise-Kesler-Kane.

I think Kessel just needs the puck in the rush. Fast feet and good shot. Ryan can jiggle with the puck and Stastny will be solid playmaker.

Parise can hustle and Kane will make plays as Kesler helps defensive resbonsibilities.

There's a lot to like about the depth and wings, but that defense isn't scaring anybody and the centers are a little underwhelming too. They're going to be in tough to beat teams that are strong down the middle, unless they get a whole lot of help in goal. We can't expect a Miller 2010 type performance every time.
