Well that kind of overlooks the fact you're comparing him now to a Letang that smashed his ceiling when he was just a mere third round pick.

Lidstrom was a third round pick, Jamie Benn was a low pick, but when you use them as comprable NHL players in examples at least for me it is clear you aren't talking about what their ceiling was when they were drafted. You could look at it differently though.

I was trying to come with one for Danault, I couldn't get one I really liked but the closest I came was probably Martin Erat. Teravainen reminds me of Andy Macdonald

I hope Ouellet turns into Marc-Édouard Vlasic, he reminds me of him a decent amount.

That's really not what I am saying.

As 18 year olds, not withstanding the progress Letang has achieved, Rielly must be considered a better prospect. Evidently, Rielly might not reach the level of Letang, only time will tell. But if someone line Button thinks that he is the best prospect from the 2012 class, you could assume that, if he continues to progress, he could surpass Letang.

I can also understand the anti-Q bias and he played in Val-D'Or, I'm sure he didn't get as much viewing. But to fall to a third round pick?

Lidstrom is also an unfair comparison. Not many teams were scouting Sweden seriously at that time.

Vlasic is a pretty good one, I think Oullet could be a little better offensively though, sort of like a Tobias Enstrom type

I always thought that Seth Jones reminded me a lot of Victor Hedman around the same age.

Great skaters, unafraid to lead the puck up ice.
Uses speed to close the gap, good stick work.
Strong outlet pass.
Big, but not imposing in terms of punishing checks.
Prone to mental errors when trying to do too much, need to play a simple style of game.
Not a strong enough core (yet) and can be knocked off balance.

They just seem to be similar players, this may come as a knock on Seth Jones because I know Hedman isn't that well received right now but I think both will be solid NHLers.

Lindholm plays a completely different style, not sure if I see any similarities at all.

Hedman is just underrated in this boards, he's #1 on Tampa (ok, one of the worst defenses of league ) but he's better than its said here by most posters.

Anyway, Jones for me is equally as good defensively and better offensively at the same point in careers, and I think Seth has even a bigger potential than Hedman

I think Gaudreau looks a lot like Patrick Kane from the games I've seen him so far

Yakupov-Mogilny

Ryan Hartman reminds me of Justin Abdelkader almost exactly

Galchenyuk-Kopitar

Strome-St. Louis

Grigorenko reminds me of Spezza, like some of you said earlier

Vasilevski is a lot like Braden Holtby in net, weird comparison but they have similar styles

Subban-Price

Hertl-Couture

Trouba-Adam Foote with a big shot

I've been saying that one for the past three years. He has a better head on his shoulders though.

Vasilevski/ Mike Smith
Yakapov/ Kessel
Harrington/ Girardi
Bluegers/ Krejci
Hartman/ Hartnell
Jones/ Pronger
Grimaldi/ Zednik
Slepyshev/ Kamenksky
Gibson/ Turco
Ouellet/ Timonen

I agree with the Galchenyuk/Hossa (hopefully there isn't a Torres comparison out there), Yakupov/Kessel, Reilly/Kieth comparisons. New food for thought:

Hamilton/Blake
Reinhart/Hedman
JT Miller/Brown
Jenner/Kesler
Schiefele/Spezza
Harrington/Gill (great PK, shot blocking, positional play, below average offense with decent size)

Anybody mind shedding some light on Barkov and Huberdeau's style? I just can't seem to peg their style to anyone in the NHL accurately.

In terms of playing style

Gaudreau = Danny Briere
Kucherov = Slava Kozlov
Trouba = Chris Pronger
**Xavier Ouellette = Kimo Timonen

EDIT** props to #66, had to change my post. Timonen and Ouellette is spot on.

Someone else also made the Kozlov to Kucherov comparison, that's nails too. Both guys have that sort mix of slickness and speed to their game with a dash of clutch play, it's a unique thing.

For the Finns, comparable and potential:
Teräväinen - Filppula, more offensive potential, less all-around game.. Should be a 2nd line winger/center in NHL. Give it 3-4 years.

Barkov - Thornton, less offensive potential, on par/better all-around game.. Upside 1st line center, with great all around play, 80-90 points. At worst I see him as a 3rd line shut down center in NHL.

Salomäki - T.Ruutu, less everything.. 3-4th liner in NHL/1st-2nd liner in Europe/AHL

Ristolainen - Weber, less everything.. a top4 d-man for the "Show".

Armia - Semin, less offensive talent, more size, on par with lazyness/mood swings.. 60-70 point forward in NHL if he gets his head straight.

Lehkonen - A poor mans Zach Parise.. Was a non-factor this year, should be a lot better next year. At best I see him as a 2nd line scoring winger in NHL.

Someone can help me with Pokka and Määttä. As for Granlund, I really dont see a NHL-future for him. But he is only 20, so who knows.

Barkov reminds me of Mats Sundin A LOT. Huberdeau is tougher. Somewhere between Teows and Jeff Carter?
