Canada Loss Alarming via 2013 World Juniors Viewing Guide - THW WJHC Headquarters
"It’s the most hockeyful time of the year.
Hockey fans look forward to Christmas; Die hard hockey fans look even more forward to Boxing Day and the start of the World Junior Championships!
This is hockey at its finest. Players playing with that youthful passion for the game and that sense of national pride that one can only imagine they get when donning their country’s colours. Fans cannot help but get caught up in the emotion evoked by the intense and exciting action that naturally ensues."
Everyone has gotten better the last few years, the interest have never been as high as it is now. I still believe canada has the "best" team most years but in a best of 1 tournament there is alot of variance.
Other countries are producing better teams now and just because Canada is Canada does not mean they will win every game. Plus we have Olympic Gold. So we are doing something right and I know someone will say that is 3 years ago. Canada still produces that best players in the NHL. You can take that to the bank.
Talent goes up and down. All nations have good and bad years of players, in those years canada were in a peak while other nations were not. Hence, they dominated.
But now when other nations are starting to produce better players, Canada has gone down a little and is no longer the best team.
Its nothing special. They might bounce back in a few years. Or not, only time can tell.
Everyone has gotten better the last few years, the interest have never been as high as it is now.
I agree, all you had to see was the Swiss put a scare in Russia yesterday and the fact Finland is in relegation. There is a more level playing field...I don't think Canada is slipping as much as the rest of the world is catching up. It's called progress...
