Seriously considering getting into the NBA. With school over and plenty of time on my hands plus no NHL, I'll need something to watch. Could only root for the Bulls but the game vs Houston last night was not a good night to start watching them. Still not sure if it can keep my interest though.

If you're going to, I wouldn't focus on getting caught up with a team first. Watch a variety of teams, watch the best players on those teams, etc. Not saying find a new team. If you want to root for the Bulls (I'm assuming the local team?) then by all means go ahead down the line. But gain an appreciation for the league, or the stars of the league, or any assorted players for that matter, first. That's the way I watch the NBA these days. Although I used to have my team affiliation and since abandoned that years ago. I watch the NBA the way I do now because I love the sport of basketball too much and just don't have the passion for college sports to get into college b-ball any earlier than February (with the exception of Seton Hall basketball).

I'll definitely try that. I can't get into college sports either, other than a few bowl games I don't watch any college sports really. I grew up with the Bulls when I lived in Chicago and saw the second threepeat. Once Jordan left and I moved to Jersey I didn't watch much basketball. It was easy to watch that team though.

Oh definitely. When I was growing up, it seemed like almost everyone loved the Bulls when they were winning (but that's expected amongst kids). Was very easy to watch them so I can't blame you at all. There are a lot of great players around the league that are fun to watch. There's a lot of disappointing things in the way the game has changed as compared to the 90s brand of basketball. But accept this age for what it is and you can definitely enjoy it. Easiest way to start is with whatever national TV games you can find on. If you can go back in time, go back two days and watch the Christmas day games. Definitely try to take in a Thunder game soon too. I love watching that team play, especially Durant.

Gerald Wallace is easily becoming one of my favorite players on BK. Glad he has the balls to speak up.

And the Nets have fired Avery Johnson. Became pretty apparent this was coming, albeit maybe it happened a little sooner than expected.

I do kinda feel bad for Johnson. Wasn't crazy about him but he didn't deserve to be fired. The team under performed.

I don't think he's a terrible coach, but he definitely wasn't getting it done here. But I still think King is a terrible GM and this is a poor attempt at shifting the blame elsewhere. I've never liked King as a GM and feel he has achieved minimal success in spite of himself. Maybe both deserve to go at some point, so I'm not saying Johnson shouldn't have lost his job (be it now, or down the line). I just don't think he's the source, or only source, of the problem. Simply put though, if he's not getting along with Deron Williams, sadly you have to get rid of the coach. They gave Williams too much money this off-season to take the coach's side. Bring in somebody who will get the most out of him. And then can Billy King for good measure.

i liked avery and still do but he lost control of the team since the boston fight. Things needed to be shaken up.

Id love to hire phil jackson. Would be interesting to see jerry sloan in the mix. Dont want van gundy or mike brown. But who knows, pj carlesimo has experience and could do well

I thought Phil Jackson said he was done coaching? Isn't that why he left L.A.?

Phil Jackson is one of those that "said" he was done, but would change his mind for the right situation. Obviously he felt the Lakers this year were not that situation. Everyone is already saying the Nets are not good enough for him to jump in. Personally I have a feeling he's not going to come upon the right situation and will probably stay out of it. But that's because I thought this Lakers team would be the one he would jump at and obviously he did not. I don't think he's coming back unless its for a team he knows should win a championship when he walks in the door.

jackson didnt get the laker job because the lakers chose dantoni. Jackson even said he was shocked he didnt get the hire. I think this is the perfect fit for jacksons triangle honestly. Two good guards and a center, with defensive minded forwards who can contribute offensively if needed. Also have the bench to utilize.

That being said, its impossible to predict what jackson wants to do nowadays. He comes and goes whenever he chooses. I just hope whatever coach gets hired uses marshon brooks. That kid can play and avery wasnt giving him any chances, even opting for childress and teletovic at times.
