No Ghost against us? That's a shame, he was one of the few Americans I was actually looking forward to see. At least Hyka is still there

Btw. Ghost was suspended for that checking the Slovak's nuts with a stick or was there something else I missed?

IIHF don't mess around. If the NHL used IIHF officials, we'd be longing for the days of dolts like Hasenfraz, Chris Lee, and Don Van Massivefailure

It's gonna be fun!!

I'd feel better if the US didn't have Gibson, but not much we can do about that.

I used all NHL Network and all of yesterday to catch up on the USA games, but still missed the game this morning.

I'm going to try and stay up tonight to catch this Canada/US game. Sounds like it'll be a good one.

I thought it was at 4AM, not 4:30? Either way, going to stay up for it. GO USA! Hopefully Ghost does well in his return.

4-0 USA right now. Canada has looked like crap and USA taking advantage. 5 mins left in 2nd period.

From thehockeywriters.com:

The Game Pacer – Has the tools, size, shot, pass, spacing and the hockey sense to use those tools to his best advantage. Can elevate his game to the situation, something teams love to see. The Captain of his team.

United States 5, Canada 1 recaps:

http://www.tsn.ca/world_jrs/story/?id=412698

Quote:
The United States handily defeated Canada 5-1 in the semifinals at the 2013 World Junior Hockey Championship in Ufa, Russia on Thursday, dominating in every department. The United States will play for the gold medal on Saturday againt Sweden or Russia. Canada will play for bronze and will not earn gold for the fourth straight tournament.

"Obviously its disappointing," said Canada's Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. "It's not the result we came here for."

Encore versions of the game will air on TSN later today at 10:30am et/7:30am pt and 7:30pm et/4:30pm pt.

Jake McCabe opened the scoring for the United States 7:18 into the game, firing a shot through a crowd that beat Malcolm Subban.

McCabe struck again with 3:58 left in the period, snapping a shot from the slot past Subban, who was screened again - this time by his own defence.

John Gaudreau made it 3-0 USA snapping home a high shot after a nice toe-drag on a two-on-two rush less than three minutes into the second period.

Ryan Strome had a great chance to get Canada back in the game just after Gaudreau's goal, walking in all alone on American goaltender John Gibson, but he was unable to convert. Jonathan Drouin followed with another chance on a 2-on-1 break, but he missed the net and Canada remained down three.

Here are a few quick-hit updates:

* Flyers defense prospect Shayne Gostisbehere played sparingly in Team USA's 5-1 semifinal round victory over Team Canada today. More or less, he was the 7th defenseman in this game. He only took one shift in the second period and a couple on the third (one during a four-on-four), and was not used on the power play.

It was nothing punitive against "Ghost" by head coach Phil Housley. First of all, Team USA has a very deep blueline. Secondly, things had been clicking during Gostisbehere's IIHF-mandated five-plus period absence (most of Slovakia game, all of Czech game) that it was going to tough for him to get back into the regular rotation. Last and certainly not least, Team USA collectively played so well against Canada that there was no need to make a change. The Americans spent most of the game playing from ahead, and players like Seth Jones and Jacob Trouba were playing extremely well.

On Saturday, Team USA will take on the winner of the upcoming Russia-Sweden semifinal. One year after shockingly ending up in the relegation round, Team USA is playing for gold.
