If Kuznetsov ever decides to come to WSH they will have one hell of a top 6 with an Ovie Kuznetsov Forsberg line, my god is that going to be a ***** to defend.
its funny how most people last year were shredding Forseberg....
IIRC, Forsberg was consistently ranked top-5. The only knock against him was that he was playing in Allsvenskan (Tier-2) rather than Elitserien (Tier-1).
Just noticed that Trouba is a '94. He's going to obliterate this tournament next year if he doesn't go pro. Too bad we likely won't have Galchenyuk or Jones; at least we'll get to play the "we couldn't send our best" card for once.
Wow that was an incredible game, I'm really glad my sleep schedule is weird and I was able to stay up for it. As TP said, Gibson and Gaudreau were fantastic once again. Trouba was good but not as dominant as he had been in past games, I think Seth Jones may have been their best defenseman last night/this morning. I even found myself cheering for the stinking Badger, "Captain America" when he scored a few goals.
Galchenyuk is soooo dynamic but unfortunately his line is not their best so he has been getting around 14-15 minutes a game. The grind line of Pietela-Bardreau-Hartman has also been a treat to watch; I could see Hartman being a first round pick this year.
Can't wait for the game on Saturday, GOOOO 'Murica!!!!
oh for the love of christ. he probably barely made the team out of camp and was outplayed by the 13th forward going into the tourney. is it really so awful to think he wasn't worth a spot on the roster when things weren't gong well?
it's homerism at it's finest, here. i wasn't fond of the Wild's pick and now am happily on the other side of the coin but USAs game is dependent on teamwork and Lucia didn't fit as well. It's a short tournament. how much chance do you think he should get when Galchenyuk wasn't seeing as much ice as most people wanted him to have? clearly this was about fit and chemistry.
I wouldn't necessarily look at it as Lucia being the worst forward on the team, he just never found a fit and that's what you need in a short tournament. All of the other potential 13th forwards found a line they fit on and therefore have continued to get playing time. You certainly can't argue with the results since he's been benched.
No offense to USA fans but I'd like to see Sweden win for a single purpose.
I want my boy Nick Sorensen to win (and brings it at home) the Gold medal. He had a terrible obstacle in his hockey career last year and he's still playing awesome today. Also, go Russia.
Don't care either way. I will see a medal (or 2 perhaps) and partying so I'm fine with any result.

I don't disagree with what you are saying here. He made the team as a 13th forward. I simply disagreed with the fact that he isn't playing because he isn't productive. He has been productive at every level so far. Your quote made it sound like he was benched for lack of production in this tourney which is false. He has only been unproductive in the same way I have been unproductive in this tourney.

This is not true, he started in the top 12 and was just moved out of the rotation a couple games ago. He had 1 point in the 4 games he played in so I don't know why you're making it sound like he was tearing it up. He wasn't playing poorly by any means but they felt someone else would give them a better chance and it's hard to argue with the results.

yeah, i could have been more clear. He could have conceivably played his way into staying on the roster however, even with as limited icetime as he had and in a role that didn't suit him perfectly. There just wasn't time to risk those minutes on a cusp player (I'd say the bottom four forwards were in the same boat)
All I am saying in essence was it was completely reasonable that Lucia got sat. Hey, this way he'll be fresh when they get embarrassed by the Gophers!

no what i meant was people on this board hated forsberg and didn't want him for some mysterious reason.
