When it became apparent Girgensons would not be at the WJC I strongly suspected this would be the relegation matchup. I know everybody probably did, but I think with Girgensons the Latvians could have been a huge spoiler team and maybe been in matchup game, not this one. Both the Germans and Latvians gave the Slovaks a scare, the Latvians hung in there with the Czech's as well. Should be a good game. I'd say the Latvians probably pull this out though and come back in Malmo.

Girgensons wouldnt have changed anything, when we have Tambijevs as our head coach,we deserve to be relegated and Tambijevs deserves to be fired, bring ANYBODY in his place hell even Miluns was better.
See the problem is if we dont relegate,Tambijevs stays because he would have then completed the minimal requirment that is-staying in the elite group.
Yeah, thats a risk, on one hand, being relegated sucks but there is a high chance we host so I get to attend the matches, on the other hand, we survive another year though theres the high chance we keep Tambijevs.
If we do survive, hopefully somebody stands up and says "there is no way we should of came this close to relegation with what we had, time to find somebody else."

Sorry, but what your saying is complete ********. I neither like Tambijevs but lets be honest, what could a better coach do with our players in terms of winning?
Nothing, We'd still find ourselves in relegation round.
This WJC is important to our players, for their individual development. Yes, Tambijevs sucks at utilizing our players but despite his stupidity, our players never the less gain an important experience. This experience is still more important then getting Tambijevs fired from our WJC team, especially because he will still remain in HK Riga.
Honestly it will be only our players that will suffer from relegation and not Tambijevs. He needs to get fired but not by means of our own relegation.
If however we lose tomorrow, then it's a different discussion.

1)With a better coach we would have probably won the slovak and czech games and we wouldn`t have to worry about relegating.
2)nope
You really think we would have won Swiss or Finland, even if we had Kļaviņš and the other uninvited players? Sure, we could have taken Czechs to the OT, get 1 or 2 points, perhaps even get an upset win in regulation, but I'm afraid that's it, and that wouldn't have saved us from relegation round.

Your missing my point.
If I would think that our team is that useless that a change of coaches wouldn't affect the outcome of some games, then I wouldn't want that Tambijevs gets fired.
Of course I believe that our team utilized well would perform at a different level then now. However our team, even with a good coach, hasn't got a lot of potential, namely the best we could technically do, is barely avoid the relegation round or more confidently survive the relegation round. But that's it.
At the end of the day this WJC won't be nothing more but a place where our players get the chance to compete with the best of their own age.
We will never compete for medals in a WJC and your suggestion that our team would benefit by losing tomorrow is absurd!!
Yes we probably would become a better team with a different coach and I agree with that, but we will never become THAT much better, that it would be worth to lose tomorrow.
Your expectations about our team are way too unrealistic. It's sad that Tambijevs wastes most of the talent that he could utilize instead, but we aren't as good as you think. Your speculations which teams we could beat with a different coach are meaningless. We simply don't know, maybe we would have won Czech's maybe we wouldn't have.
Either way getting relegated is not worth it and we shouldn't wish that to our team.
The idiots who hired Tambijevs as the head coach for our WJC should realize that our team under performs without us actually getting relegated and should fire him.
Hence, Go Latvia!
