That's very conservative of you. Mark Buehrle's mother would take Halladay over him.

I think you could get alot more for Price with 1 more year of arb and a full season left than you could if you wait and are in the position where everyone knows the Rays have to deal him. Plus teams know Price is going to test FA... tough to get a big haul for him with 1 yr left, then it would with 1.5 years and a full offseason to workout a longterm deal.
if theyre out of the wildcard race this yr, yeah i can see that
it'll be hard to contend without him
i think theyre hoping moore becomes the ace in a few yrs

Who knows, we could be players too. We have fans (as our back to back WS showed) we just need to be good. If we are serious contenders from now until then, we should have money to sign someone like him, god would he look good in a Jays jersey

Indians claimed Canzler back, per MLBTR. Bummer - I was looking forward to seeing if he could win the platoon DH job opposite Lind as a lefty masher.

Anyone know why he was exposed? Somebody else moved around?

Probably tried sneaking him to Buffalo. He's had a fun off-season lol

I don't think they want him as their 25th man on the roster but they tried to sneak him through because well... he makes good Triple A depth. I bet Jays want someone with more positional value and flexibility for their 25th man spot and probably see Davis as Lind platoon partner if need be.

Perhaps... but with so much positional flexibility already on the roster, it would be nice to have a solid bat that could help out situationally. Canzler is a beast against left-handed pitching, hitting for average, power and OBP, IIRC. That's going to come in handy in late-game situations, even when the starter was a righty.

I'm not sold on Davis as anything more than a temporary stopgap at the platoon DH spot.

Thing is sure Canzler's numbers are good, but its a tiny sample size. I'd much rather have a vet who's done it before come in and be that bat. A Matt Stairs type if you will. I thought Andruw Jones might have been perfect, but shows what I know... signs in Japan and then arrested

As for Rajai, as the 5th outfielder he's not going to be much more than an occasional defensive replacement, pinch hitter against lefties and obviously and most importantly as a baserunner.

Fair enough, but for me the only questions left on the roster are:

1) Does Oliver return, and if not, who do they give his $3 million to?

2) Are they going to platoon Lind, and if so, with whom?

I've got a feeling that if Oliver doesn't come back they let the spot get filled internally and save a little wiggle room for an in-season move.

If nothing surfaces between the start of ST and the first game in April I wouldn't be suprised if AA waits out the market to see if a platoon bat gets made available in the first couple months of the season.

All you really need is someone whose got lightning in a bottle for a couple months, or a vet who wants a move to a contender. Jim Thome was serviceable for Baltimore last year for example. (although i'd hope for better)

Delmon Young? He's hit lefties well over his career (.307 Avg / .341 OBP / .824 OPS).. but he'd probably demand a fair bit of salary and want an everyday role

You just about half to platoon him with how bad he is against lefties, and there's always one option if we don't add anyone, Rajai Davis.

Davis his leftys really well and I like that idea because I love his speed on the bases but some others might not because he lacks the power that you traditionally see from the DH position.

I doubt he would take a bench/platoon role like you said. That and Delmon Young sucks at just about everything else. To put his performance in perspective, Adam Lind walked more and struck out less on average over 9 innings last year.

The search for the 25th man continues.

If Price has a Cy Young type season he'll get more than 10 mill. Tim Lincecum made 14 mill in his 2nd arbitration year. Price will command similar money.

Ooooh, so it's controversy you want eh? I'd take him over Morrow as well (not including contracts).

Good for him.

I always liked Frasor, steady dependable guy, not much more than a league average reliever, but loved the team and city.

I always thought he took alot of flak over the years when at times he was most reliable guy in some bad bullpens... people always tend to remember the bad outings rather than the multitude of good ones.

He's turned out a pretty good career for an undersized guy drafted in the 33rd round.

I agree with this completely. Happy for Jason that he has signed with them.
