The Flash Gordon scenes took Ted from average to good, in my book. FLASH, OOOH, SAVIOR OF THE UNIVERSE!

I love seth, don’t get me wrong, but even that felt forced. come up with an 80’s reference and overdo it to death. in family guy, it works. it’s a short cartoon, and usually a B story (stewie scared of a Queen album cover, random Mark Harmon etc). here, flash gordon was a MAJOR plot development device which..for me..didnt work. I still enjoyed the movie, I just hope he works more on dialogue/story for the sequel.

I really liked the random awkward Ryan Reynolds scenes and Joel McHale.

family guy went downhill hard a while ago, and i've never liked anything else, so i just assumed i'd dislike ted and moved on. not going to watch it any time soon.

after I lost interest in Family Guy, I tried American Dad and found it very good like the first couple of years of FG.

Roger certainly is up there but for my money the best developed animated character award goes to Bobby Hill. Roger has immense freedom as an alien to bust out of left field at any time while Bobby has to live in a pretty grounded reality walled up by Arlen, TX.

Fun, newly discovered fact: The stunning lady who plays Mozart's wife in "Amadeus" goes topless in the Director's Cut. As if the movie needed to get any better.

Every Seth MacFarlane production is about the same. It's getting to be paint by numbers now.

I vividly remember Sophomore year in HS our music teacher only having the Director's Cut to show us in class. He asked us to be mature about the scene. I guess he forgot he taught in an all-guys high school

Watched Looper tonight. I thought it was decent. Nothing special but I'd say it was worth the money I spent on renting it from directv.

oh, prime simpsons beats prime american dad, sure. but i dont think, from a character development/storyline aspect, any character from the simpsons trumps roger. maybe, maaayybe abe simpson, but he's so limited its hard to say.

and really, the only reason roger trumps all is because of hsi creative leeway. he can be unrecognizable to ANYONE simply by putting on a wig. realistic? no. potential for hilarity? through the roof

edit: bobby hill? i can honestly say i've only seen 3-5 episodes of king of the hill, so i cant comment. but bobby (or the indian dude plowing gribbles wife) certainly rose to the top of that cast for me

The second half was kinda lacking, but I still loved it. Especially how they worked in time travel.

What`s After Earth with Will Smith then? Saw the trailer today, looks interesting.

Just came back from cinema. Went to see Les Miserábles. Wasn`t impressed with Hooper`s work again (didn`t like King`s Speech much), but more importantly with the screenplay. He skinned the original to the bone, so it`s not just worse than the book (that happens a lot in general), but also worse than the original. The worst part is that it`s a three hour movie.

As for the cast, how on earth do you cast Hugh Jackman as the main character when he`s not a naturally good singer? He was "making noises" or "rapping" half of the time and ending every sequence with an opera impression. It sounded ridiculous, especially in duets with better singers.

Russell Crowe was damn solid, liked him a lot. So was Anne Hathaway, although her low register is a bit squeaky. I was really impressed with Amanda Seyfried. Never heard her sing before.

I guess it`s worth taking a look when it comes out, but I`d never recommend anyone to go see it in the cinema.

After Earth is directed by M Night Shyamalan, for what it's worth.

I'm in a wait and see mode on that. Shyamalan can make some nice visuals happen and I think he can tell a good childrens story, so maybe this movie will be right up his directing alley. He didn't do the original or the final writing on it, but did an in between version of the script.
