Yet we conveniently forget how the players allllllll did one thing during the players - owners meeting, only to come back the next morning and change their tune in a complete role reversal because of Fehr.
Yeah, let's pin all of this on the owners.
BOTH sides are playing games. So let's stop acting like a bunch of 23 year olds aren't playing any games.
I have said on plenty of occassions the players are wrong. However, the absolute venom being spewed by some against the players is absolutely ridiculous. Like was said in the last thread, seems obvious to me that many on here are jealous that these guys make so much money to play a game while they are just a working stiff and that these players are just "employees".
I would LOVE to see Bettman and Jacobs tell the players in a meeting they are just employees and then laugh at how fast this process crumbles to the ground.
I swear, even after a CBA is eventually signed people are still going to be posting that they think the season is going to be lost. Be realistic, neither side can bear a lost season.
I wouldn't put it past either side to actually reneg on a deal at this point, that's how little I think of them all.
I said early today that this was going to be the day the talks ended.
Sides have too many issues and are too far apart to reach a deal for the season. They just don't work fast enough.
With a week to go, there would be time for a mild blow up where both sides reach for their guns and start heaving threats and insults at each but eventually reconvene and restart talks and get it done. None of these issues should be enough to derail this but we've been surprised many times during this lockout at the turns these talks have gone.

Yep, exactly. A week is like a year when it comes to Fehr/Bettman negotiations.
They have to work on pension which is important to the owners and players.
The cap number is a big deal and the NHL is firm on it.
Don't you understand if one side doesn't "give" on these issues you won't be watching hockey this year. There is no middle ground. They don't work like that. This entire process has been brutal and has had the eye for an eye mentality the entire time.
The owner's want to drop the cap ceiling, which lowers the floor. That's it.
They have unlimited escrow, yet they still won't get off the lower cap, lower floor thing. That makes this ENTIRE exercise about helping the bottom 10 markets. It's a major kick in the teeth to the paying customer in cities (Vancouver, Toronto, New York, Boston etc) who pay the highest prices and sell out. Meanwhile, with a lower floor, teams in bad markets who have low prices get to continue running their business poorly and make money doing it.
**** the owners.
I was 50/50 before. No longer. As a fan of a well run, profitable team I can not tolerate a league that changes the rules so quickly, forcing my GM to partially dismantle his team just so garbage market teams can stop losing their shirts.
I hope the players stand firm and the season gets **** canned. Dropping the cap to 60 AND getting unlimited escrow proves the owners' greed. Instead of a triple they are trying to hit a home run with this CBA.
The vibe coming out seems to be that talks have yet again broken down and there may be no meetings scheduled?? plus the PA is voting again to disclaim..Is this true?

Disclaim is very much expected... keep the feet of the NHL warm as Lebrun put it.

Except take HRR where they eventually met in the middle... but your right, there is no middle ground.
Anyway, forget Fehr, I'm filing my DOI towards the NHL. I'll find out when I find out season or no season, until then I'm done worrying about this lockout and letting it take up any more of my time. see ya guys hopefully when the season starts.
