This is retarded. The buyouts are retarded. they were created by the people who want them. nobody told these owners and g.m's to give that much money to these players. Pensions are another joke. When your a multi millionaire, money sorta starts to cease to exist. you want something, you have the money. for what they are their a joke. 45 thousand in the states, 20 thousand in canada. their trying to reach a middle ground i guess for the fourth liners who play a year or two. That in itself is just stupid to continue a lockout over. As far as buying out bryz after one year......duh. we need a goalie. he's a good goalie. If you blame him for everything, you'll blame every goalie for everything forever. our team was in transition. wake up.

If something like this is going to end talks and in consequence kill the season Bettmann should be beat up.

This I doubt. It just sounds like Fehr is trying to stall the negotiations.
The NHL and PA were originally trying to change the HRR terms but the NHL dropped it in their 2nd or 3rd proposal.
It didn't come out now that the league tried to change the terms? Yeah, not buying that

kirshna, you get the feeling Fehr has had about enough of bettman and owners that he is at the point of just saying FU and take it to court?

It's been pretty widely reported they tried to reduce the penalty and the NHLPA became alarmed.

I've felt that way since the beginning. It's one of his only tactics.
Stall.
When all else fails? Take it to court.

Who knows? Twitter media people.
It seems to be really well established that today has mostly been spent hashing that issue out, though; NHL tried to change the penalties to be lenient, players objected strongly, a while later the NHL changed back to the original position. Yay, waste of time.

I think they're close to breaking the owners. If Fehr gets Bettman to go past the drop dead date, it will be chaos among the owners. Putting disclaimer to vote takes this to the drop dead date of January 11. Bettman could have called their bluff on this weeks ago if he simply canceled the season back then, because re-voting every 2 weeks would have flushed out the union.

The NHL has a history of doing this sort of thing, why would that be unlikely?

Because until somebody else confirms it, I don't believe anything Brooks says. He's the biggest PA shill.
On an unrelated note :
Andy Scott @Andy_Scott15
A few trusty sources saying NHLPA - NHL deal will be announced tomorrow..... #FinalStretch #AboutTime
Says he's a NHLPA agent with octagon hockey.
Could be fake

I voted option 2. I will obviously follow the season and root for the Flyers, but I am not going to any games or buying any new jerseys or anything like that (however, if the season does start, I should have my signed Giroux jersey shortly thereafter according to CSNPhilly). We shall see.
