His numbers aren't impressive because of the team he's on, but since Forsberg demanded a trade, he has been on fire. I mentioned him as a steal, because majority of draft rankings had him as a 2nd rounder and I believe I had him around the mid-to-late second. He is a very talented kid who has high vision and passing ability. Like all Avs prospects lately, they will not rush him due to his biggest weakness is his weight and physicality. Besides that I think he has an underrated defensive game and is a character player that you can rely on, especially on powerplays. I believe RS labeled him with Patrick Kane characteristics and I like that comparison quite a lot.

Bourke is definitely going to be a steal. Even with his lack of size, he's still pretty physical and feisty.

People compare him to Parise from his playstyle (note; I'm not saying he's as talented as Parise, just has a similar playstyle) since he's got a good wrist shot, great passing and works hard in all 3 zones, plays the PP and PK.

Unfortunately for Heard, Malone and Olver should and could be in front of him in development, and ability, but are both quite young, but ahead of him in the depth charts.

Heck, even John Mitchell is only 27, so he could be around for quite some time.

I wrote this last June:

#24 Troy Bourke, C Prince George, WHL

Another one of my favourites in this draft, rated #123 North American skater, it would appear that this guy is a real hidden gem. While playing on a very poor Prince George team, he led them in scoring with very little help. I would have to guess that his low ranking would be due to him being a bit undersized (510″ / 170lbs) but what sets this kid apart is his vision and hockey sense. He completely and consistently outplayed Brendan Gaunce at the Under 18 tournament and while he did have some pretty good linemates, he was not a by-product of their game, in fact they benefitted from playing with him. While he is on the small side, I never once thought that he was being outworked or that it negatively impacted his game. There should be a team that takes a chance on him in the later rounds and I personally believe that they will have found themselves quite a player.

NHL COMPARABLE: Doug Gilmour

UPSIDE: Second/Third Line Forward

But could he get beaten down by Sakic as well as Doug?

If yes, that alone is draft worthy !

Lots of talk about Bourke, but what about Colin Smith? He is leading the WHL in points. I haven't watched any games this year, what is the story on him?

edit - I also posted this in the prospects thread.....thought this was the prospect thread.....

Wow, we shouldn't be leading this one. Sgarbossa once again the stand out, but shouldn't be on a line with Bordy.

Bordeleau is like an oil tanker. Can't stop and wide turning radius. If he hits something damage is done.

Any chance Sgarbossa makes the team if the lock out actually ends next week? I can't believe how much we got out of the Sharks in that trade lol.

That Sgarbossa kid is fantastic. If there's an injury to the top-9, he'll definitely get the first call-up. Would love to see how he plays with Duchene or Landeskog.
