Canes and Sharks.. hmm. I'd probably still root for the Canes.. I'm usually a one team lifer in all other sports but the Whalers move lessened some loyalty but not enough to root against the Canes in the cup final.

Anaheim>Montreal. Love both teams, but the Ducks got me into Hockey, and I've been a fan since 03. Love Price though.

H/M: Flyers, Jets.

No matter how much I like other teams, I hope the Oilers destroy anyone they face in the playoffs or finals. If the Oilers winning the Cup means Chicago goes 0-82 I take that every single time.

For me it's Montreal >

The rest are teams towards which I have a varying degree of dislike: from those I don't mind, and may even enjoy watching, to those I hate with the white hot intensity of the trinity explosion.

If it were the Jets vs the Oilers in the finals, hell would freeze over.

...but I'd cheer for the Jets. I've been following the team since 1999. Half the shirts I own are either Thrashers or Jets branded. 50% of my large jersey collection is either Jets or Thrashers. My all-time favorite player and current favorite have both played for the franchise. Not to mention, it would be incredible to see the city of Winnipeg finally get the Cup, especially after losing the team for 15 years. I just got home from Winnipeg, and even during the lockout, EVERYONE is wearing Jets gear. The fans deserve it.

Vancouver is my favourite team over any other easily.

That said, it would be nice to see Toronto win, as it is my hometown and the fans deserve it, but no way in heck would I want them to win before Vancouver does.

2001 Avalanche vs Devils. The Devils are where my allegiance lies, and they come first. Never stayed interested enough in Colorado since the last lockout. Still followed until Sakic retired. The Claude Lemieux trade is what made me adopt Colorado as my second team. Slightly lost interest after they traded him back to us. Was bitter for a little while after they beat us in the SCF, but went back to them by the time the 02 playoffs rolled around.

They were my clear cut number 2 from 95-04. Unlike the Devils though they didn't age well with me when they lost most of the guys they had over the years from when they first moved to Colorado. Since the Devils are my team I will watch them forever no matter what, but I didn't give Colorado that treatment cause they weren't my team. I like Nashville, and St Louis in the West now.

I chose the Lightning over the Flames in 04 pretty easily.

IMO, if someone has 2 favorite teams, they aren't a true fan. Maybe a die hard hockey fan, but not a true fan of either team.

I don't have two favorite teams, but I do like to root for certain players, for example I thought it was great that Mitchell won last year, the Canucks should have never lost him, I honestly believe the 2011 finals goes differently if we have Mitchell holding the fort, his replacement Ballard IMO is a useless 4 million dollar pylon. I hope for example that Iginla gets one more shot at the cup, just not with Calgary.

I've often wondered. Luckily the Flyers always choke and the Oilers can't even get into the playoffs so I won't worry about it.

I don't have a second team so it's Pittsburgh all the way.

I think circumstances are different in each case. If a fan lives in a state where they can go to the games, I don't even know why you'd have a second team... but with no team in sight, the fact that you gotta watch games online to follow teams.. I can see being a fan of an east and West team.. esp. when one usually plays at 7 and the other at 1030.

I consider myself a diehard hockey fan but that doesn't mean I don't love the two teams I root for on a nightly basis..

Basically, this. I almost got into a fight with my friends last year for cheering for both the Leafs and the Jets. No back-up teams, no second favorites!

BS... Why can't a person like a team in the east and the west?

The Pens are my favorite and no other teams come close but I want to watch as much hockey as I can so I like teams from different time zones.

I wouldn't say that. I grew up a fan of one team thousands of miles away, but spent my life living in an area of another where I would go see them live my whole life. Impossible not to get caught up in the local pride and spirit for the team you grow up around.

Also they never play each other. When my team comes to town I rock their colors and know how to get under people's skin because little do they know I am on their side the other 81 games a year.

No real fan should like two different teams, let alone have a hard decision choosing who to root for.

Montreal Ottawa could never happen for a SCF but it would be extremely hard in the Eastern Conference playoffs.

Ottawa - Nashville would be really nice though, I'd be pulling for Nashville because I love their hard-working style...but realistically Ottawa would win in six.
