According to the article on TSN re: Reinhart's suspension. He must serve it at the next IIHF event, meaning next year if he's available he'll have to serve the remaining 3 games on the suspension. Unlikely Hockey Canada will take him in that event. Lets hope HC's appeal to have the suspension reduced works.

Or HC can do as I suggested, if he's available come May, name him to the senior team. You can name 25 players to the World Championship team, HC never fills up all those spots. It would be a token position, a trip to Europe and he can burn off the suspension. case closed.

Average, all of Canada's d-men were either average or below average for the better part of the tournament.

One game at most, and that would be harsh. 4 games is ridiculous.

Might be my soft spot for him and I will admit that as a Wings fan, but I thought Ouellet played pretty well most of the tournament, not that Spott noticed.

Maybe 4 games is a bit too much... deserved a suspension though.

Hopefully, Canada takes him on the WC squad. Reinhart was possibly the 2nd best D-Men of the team, and they'll REALLY need him next year.

It looks to me like a typical tit for tat instinctive retaliation that happens all the time in hockey. It looks worse than it is.

That was deliberate and would have deserved a longer suspension.

It was unintentional. His stick rides up the USA guy's stick and into his face. In slo-mo this is clear...

Are you people blind or something? They show the play in slowmo at 3:22. He goes to give him a little slash, which happens 50 times a game in any league but the stick rides up the American stick. The initial point of contact is the USA guys stick just above his blade. From there the stick ricochets up high.

It is a penalty obviously but it was called as one. There was no injury and a suspension is absolutely outrageous, and for it to be 4 games is an embarrassment to the sport. The IIHF is a joke. Has been before this tourney and they continue to reinforce it.

Hockey Canada should name him as one of the 25 players on the senior men's world championship team if he's available, put him on the roster and burn off his 3 game suspension. It's not like we are going to send a serious team to Europe in the spring anyway.

Or, they have to leave him off the team. You can't play the first 3 games with 6 D-men? But Hockey Canada will obviously try. They are dumb as dirt at Hockey Canada.

The only other d-man eligible to return is Rielly.

No forwards are eligible to return except for Drouin and Mackinnon and realistically, both will be in the NHL. So no returning forwards either.

So, for 2014 in Sweden we may have only 1 returning player or 0 returning players. The gold medal drought continues next year. My early prediction.
I just watched that and he bats him right in face with it,shocked he was not cut.He deserves a suspension, its was DIRTY>Do the crime do the time. That would set a bad example for sure, what u imply but no worries there,Hockey canada would never try and protect anyone who does things like that,And besides ,not like he was a difference maker. And if I am wrong and he did not mean to do it that kid should go back to hockey school and learn how to control his stick, cause if thats the case he has no hand eye what so ever.

you actually think he two handed the guy in the face on purpose?

he was losing balance went to slash the stick and his stick ricochet'd off the other player's stick, making his stick go higher then it was suppose to which hit his face.

2 min for high-sticking, 4 game suspension is a horrible horrible decision.

this is a two hand to the face:

see the difference?

In essence it was accidental, because I think most people would agree he didn't intend on hitting him in the head.

The slash was clearly intentional, the target was not.

Looking at it more I can't even say for sure that even the slash itself was on purpose. He was off balance and might have been trying to whip his stick around to help himself stay upright.

But regardless if it was a slash or not, it shouldn't be a suspension.

He has to be held accountable for his stick,It was reckless,And if u want to ask some one about it,send a message to former Leaf Bryan Berard

I agree. He still took a good whack at the US player, maybe he'll learn it's not a good idea to go whacking around with your stick like that in a dangerous fashion. The Derian Hatcher era is over.

If you don't wear a visor, that is the chance you take. He was held accountable for his stick. He was assessed a penalty for high sticking, which was the right call.
