I would still rather clear deck for gold education package. I think Ebert has improved from last year but still isn't giving a lot of value. Having a 3rd gold education package can be valuable in signing a Schmaltz or giving them out in 2014, of course Ebert could be done after next year or could be an OA so it might be best to move him.

I have to imagine this pick will be flipped. We dealt Maletta away and already don't have any depth already, so I assume we have another trade lined up that needed picks.

Spitfire future draft picks

As near as I can get it these are the Spitfire picks for the future not including the conditional picks acquired for Maletta........

Spitfires' Draft Picks
(*) indicates a conditional pick
2013: 3rd, ERI 5th, KIT 6th (*), ERI 7th, 9th, SAR 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th, SUD 13th, 14th, KGN 15th
2014: 1st, SAR 2nd, NIA 2nd, SAG 2nd, 5th, 6th, 8th, 9th, 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th
2015: 1st, NIA 2nd, SUD 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th
2016: 2nd, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th, SSM 15th (*)
2017: 1st, SAR 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th
2018: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th

The wording from the reduced penalty Sept 24th/2012...So now instead of losing three first round draft choices in 2013, 2014 and 2015, as well as a 2nd round pick in 2015 and 2017 the Spitfires are only going to lose two first round draft choices in 2013 and 2016 also they will lose a second round draft pick in 2015 and in 2017.

It's a 2nd and a 6th... not a 4th.

Wonder if 'conditional picks' are on condition he reports and plays at least one game. He has a no trade I think....

Gotta believe there's a lot more to come but this is a start....Still have the 6 cards.

Jordan Maletta @jmaletta13
"I enjoyed my time in Windsor. I had a lot of fun playing with a great group of guys and playing for a great organization! The fans were 2nd to none and I'm definitely going to miss it. But I'm excited to be a part of the Niagara IceDogs now and I can't wait to play back at home!"

The 2nd becomes a 2013 2nd rounder if Niagara acquires another 2nd rounder before April 1st and the 6th turns into a 4th in 2016 if Maletta plays 100 games.

The 100 game condition should be easy enough to meet. I'm not sure I like the idea of the second rounder condition as there is big incentive there for the Ice Dogs to acquire a late 2nd in this years draft - so it becomes a 35-40 type pick, I mean there is no way they'll acquire a high second - because they'd be paying more of a cost to get it only to send it here. They trade Strome and Hamilton they'll surely get seconds form current contenders.

You have to like those conditions. We really could use a 2nd in 2013......

The Spits are definitely not done. Rychel has to be creative and aggressive here to help flip this quick.
It can be done, no doubt, he just doesnt have alot of room for error. So far so good. Seems like a good trade. Not sure he coulda got much more than he did for that piece and as mentioned it gives them flexibilty in edu packages.
If KoKo does return it helps that much more.

We have our own and Niagara's (from the Kuhnhackl trade last year), both in the first round. Where they'll end up depends on where Windsor and Niagara finish. Import order goes WHL, OHL, Q this year so OHL teams will pick 2nd, 5th, 8th, 11th, 14th and so on...

Import draft happens after the minor draft - so we could look to trade a couple of our 2014 second rounders to get a higher import pick rather than sitting back and ending up with Ionin rather than Tolchinsky.

I agree having that gold edc pack could be huge, think now they have 2 now

use them to entice Baughman/Schmaltz,or Allen/Butcher,wont be easy gotta try

If we move another gold package it will likely be Bateman. I think we keep Ebert now, he's passable at worst and is good enough to be a second pairing guy on a contending team. Given where he was drafted, I don't think any team would take on his package in any deal anyways as he's a long shot to earn a pro contract at this point.

Dont disagree re Bateman, keep in mind teams dont have to assume the package in some cases just the designation,ie the marchese trade, thus it might be easier if Windsor assumes the risk or risks if u include Ebert, find a team willing to take the designation, and Windsor will pay the package if the player flames out on a pro career
Btw I doubt Ebert will ever utilize the package,he did not grad uate from high school in the tradional way he got his diploma by writing his geds a year plus ago
