Don't blame them.

The Jets beat writers are the biggest joke in all of the NFL. All they try to do is reinforce the whole "Jets are a circus" meme and get pissed when the players and coaches don't want to talk to them.

Hacks.

The Jets put it on themselves. Blaming the media is being a naive homer

I couldn't care less what someone who has bought into the meme and is obviously humored by it has to say.

My fault for trying to educate you.

First off, you are using the word meme completely wrong.

Secondly, every team gets asked stupid questions. The difference is the Jets answer them instead of ignoring them which leads the media to ask more because they know that the Jets will take the bait.

Take a journalism class and sit in professional locker rooms like I have then try to educate me

Why is a professional journalist asking those questions?

To generate buzz to generate a crowd to generate money. Simple concept, no?

Certainly.

So rather than ask pertinent football related questions, they bait the Jets to answer silly puff questions about Tebow, etc. in order to fulfill their biases and continue the same trope.

Journalistic integrity and all that.

The Jets have done more than enough stupid things without the media's help, scapegoating the media for the Jets' ills is a total cop-out. The Jets should have known what they were getting into with Tebow, but hey the owner wanted attention, he got it and then some.

Plus, it's not the media's fault Rex tolerates a defensive coordinator constantly leaking negative stuff to one media guy (Manish Mehta), among other things. That hasn't helped the constant attention and scrutiny this year. It's also not the media's fault that Rex is disregarding an NFL rule and going underground because he has blood on his hands from Tanny getting fired.

I'm not saying the media is responsible for Woody Johnson vying for attention..

I just don't blame people within the Jets organization for having animosity towards the writers who cover the team.

Well when you constantly prove your incompetence and get caught in lies (like Rex with the QB situation week after week, saying Tebow would get up to 20 plays a game, etc), obviously the media's going to be sniffing around for blood and blowing up every little thing. Right now, I can't stand the Jets for actually making slime like Francesa be able to say 'I told you so' with a straight face on this team's stupidity and arrogance.

Today's media focuses on spinning dramatic stories. While I agree the media has turned the Jets into a huge circus, the Jets brought it on themselves with the whole QB contreversy, the Super Bowl guarantees, the stupidity on Hard Knocks, etc. Pretty easy for the media capital of the world to write a story about their ineptitude.

I agree with both of you, and I think it starts from the top with the owner.

I wasn't aware a beat writer was part of the PR department for the team.

That said, the Jets do bring this **** on themselves though. Rex doesn't need a reporter to goad him into saying stupid **** and making a buzz or drama and a complete ass outta himself and the organization. The owner isn't helping much either by bringing a guy like Tebow in just to sell jerseys and make backpage headlines.

What? The beat writer's job is to get buzz for his publication. I said nothing about a team's PR

Anybody ever attend the NFL Draft? Just got a silly trip idea for late April. Along with the NFL Draft, it'd be the end of the (hypothetical) NHL season, the Mets host the Dodgers/Nationals, the Yankees host the Blue Jays, and the NBA would be in the opening round of their playoffs.

Always wanted to. The ideal time for me would have been back in '11 when the Broncos had the #2 pick.

I always thought I would enjoy attending the NFL Draft. I probably still would, but I imagine the crowds/lines just to get in are so crazy I wouldn't enjoy it quite enough. Seems like a good time though once/if you get in. I did go to the NBA Draft when it was in Newark and that wasn't bad. I assume the NFL is probably that much better because the crowd is a lot more into it.

Apparently Rex got a tattoo (unknown if real/fake) of his wife in a Sanchez jersey

There's no way it's true. It's too ridiculous, even for the Jets.

umm... http://www.nfl.com/videos/auto/0ap20...ons-highlights

yes that was early in the season, but that was peyton pretty much being the reason his team lost. to the falcons. in a dome.

yes the falcons are inconsistent, yes their defense is average, yes they don't have much of a run game, but they've made some of the best qb's in the league look benchable this year, they have the best te in history and two other wr's with 1,200 + yards, and they are one of the most disciplined, well coached teams in the league.

they aren't the best team in the league, but to simply write them off like so many people seem to be doing is kind of ridiculous.
