I hate the whole "big corporations suck, stick it to the man!" mindset that pop politics has these days.
If I were one of the owners, I'd be going after as much money as possible. I think almost anyone would. Why should we hold them to a different standard?
Sure, and I have absolutely no problem with the owners negotiating for the best possible deal. What I don't understand is people who hate the players for doing the same thing.

"We're not taking a pay cut!"
(Lose an entire year, unpaid, from a contract)
"Yeah, we sure stuck it to the owners! They didn't walk all over us!"
To anyone here: What did Alfredsson say that some may have interpreted as reprehensible?
Generally, he doesn't come across as an insensitive guy, so I'm surprised 2 people have called Alfie out in this thread.
He made a stupid remark that sounded fearful of the NHLPA actually putting a proposal to a vote. It sounded like he wasn't confident the hardliners in the negotiating team would get their way over guys who just wanted to get back on the ice. He made it sound like those players were being selfish, and a vote would be a bad thing.
For me, it sealed the deal; this lockout is not about the everyday player but is about meeting the demands of a much smaller group of highly paid players.
Can someone please tell me what Erik Cole said? Like I said, it wouldn't surprise me if he said something stupid but I haven't really read anything although his reaction to Hamrlik was pretty bad. If that's it, I agree but I was wondering if he said anything else.
I pretty much respect all the players sticking up for the Union more then I used to, tbh. Solidarity.
There's no union solidarity at all. Some players are overseas and getting paid while others are at home either negotiating, working out, or unemployed. That's no solidarity.
I understand players trying to stick up for the union and be team players but the NHLPA is not a real union.

Would be interested in seeing the comment. He has a year left at 1 million dollars, so as a vet I'm surprised he'd lean far in that direction you were saying.
I will go with the most obvious of the last month...Chris Campoli. As someone else put it, by this point, he must be lobbying for a full-time PA position as there is no way an owner will touch him for a while. Kypreos pointed out that owners who care about winning will look past that but he is a mediocre 6/7 depth defenseman in a league with a lot of them so when a Ron Burkle has to pick between Campoli and another guy of equal low level skill, chances are he'll pick the other guy.
-Scotty Upshall for just displaying the most idiocy in a 48 hour period I've ever seen on Twitter a few weeks ago.
-Brad Richards. In every picture I just want to smack that smug look off his face. He just looks like a real entitled pr***.
These guys are lucky enough to be able to express their opinions to the public about their employers without facing severe consequences. If I was to talk a bunch of crap about my boss or business on twitter and they found out, I'd likely be out looking for a new job.
at those Roy tweets, he is such an immature buffoon. I'd see him out downtown some nights before they had a game the next day so glad he's out of Buffalo now.

I've noticed people seem a lot more eager to name players they "hate" than to give any actual, tangible reasons for said hatred.
Basically if you're a player who had any hand at all in this negotiation, HF hates you. Which is pretty sad.

I have no issues with Hainsey, Doan, etc,....meaning the players involved with the negotiating......but guys like Brouwer ( over his comments on Hamrlik), Barch with his woe is me tweets, and Upshall cos of his arrogant tweets,.....well they can all bugger off.
Other than Westgarth, Kings players have been pretty quiet and Westgarth didn't say anything particularly provocative, though I kinda smirked when he talked about how eager he was to get back on the ice as many Kings fans know he'd be riding the pine or hanging out in the press box even if there was a season.
I wouldn't say I hate these guys, but I will forever remember their stupid faces in this picture from the day Gary blew up and called out Fehr's presser lie.
All in all I'm just glad current Flyers have been pretty quiet on the stupid front, at least as far as I can tell.
Edit. I really don't know how I'd feel were I a Blackhawks fan. Players wishing harm on Bettman, Kane bringing his mom to Europe to make sure he doesn't do anything (else) stupid and the golden child (Toews) acting like just that throughout the entire lockout. This must be a rough time for you guys.
