Just heard Doug Maclean mention the towel thing again. The way I understood it was there was a 20 minute battle between both sides in earlier meetings where the PA argued that the towels used on the road weren't satisfactory and unacceptable to them.
Is there anything these sides haven't argued over during this?
are you ****** serious? this is more than comical now if they are arguing about towels and toilet paper...

If this is true, clearly the NHLPA isn't happy with anything and is really arguing for the sake of arguing.
Just posted second confirmation from Winnipeg Free Press and Puck Daddy.
Alright...... 2 articles haha. Still, it's all speculation until it actually happens. Fact remains that it's only the 4th, still a WAYS to go before both sides will want to get a deal done. Sure they could get it done now, but why not wait and try to leverage more.
A twenty minute discussion on unsatisfactory towels? I'm curious to know how much time was spent arguing over the type and quality of toilet paper to use in NHL locker rooms. Don't want any of the players developing rashes because the owners couldn't afford two-ply toilet paper.
That "Prepared to Cancel the Season" story is about the most transparent plant I've ever seen, yet fools keep re-tweeting it like it has some significance. Think about it...what's the best possible story for Bettman to float at this stage? Exactly.
Man I can not wait for this to be over. I'm losing my faith in humanity with each passing day.

Yes, I'm sure Bettman said that. But it's nothing new. We've known for a while that Jan 11 has been the dropdead date.
Now it's come out that "he's prepared to cancel the season" on that date? Obviously. That's why it's a dropdead date. I would hope he'd prepared to do so by that time.
But as already stated, it's a useless deadline. Because one side will blink before that time. Either the players will take it seriously and move the extra inch needed to meet the NHL, or the players won't take it seriously and the owners will move the extra inch needed to meet the players. Cancelling the season at this point won't happen.

John Shannon and Doug Maclean mentioned it on HockeyCentral at noon on Sportsnet earlier today. I don't know if it's actual fact or something John Shannon heard but they were talking about it..

I have to tell you I go with one ply. Take a few sheets, crumple them, and go to work. I find two ply is a waste of paper, is a ploy to charge the same price for half the toilet paper, a good way to clog a toilet, and something that leaves unpleasant surprises later on when you're trying to find the pieces that broke off in your rear while you're in the shower.

You could wait, but maybe the owners stop liking something and want to back off a bit here and there. There comes a point where you're comfortable with the deal and you should just sign the papers.
If anything more leaks about player votes or enough players come back, the league WILL prey on that weakness.

It's the equivalent of the DOI claim by the NHLPA. This is almost comical now. Both sides are playing poker with all of the cards turned up on the table and trying to bluff the other. The very idea of the season being cancelled at this stage over these issues is not fooling anyone.
If you read between the lines here, he probably asked or read the body language of MORE than one person. You don't usually get leaks of more than one or two people, this looks promising.
As a journalist you don't state "looks promising" if one guy is optimistic. You say it if you see more than one person.
