Chelski had more than enough talent on the field to win that game. They didn't. It happens...

Being forced to run out a striker who hasn't found a decent run of form in 2 years every game is a much bigger issue with respect to where that team currently finds itself IMO...

precisely. Every time Chelsea gets up 3 I go "Ok, it's time for Torres to score." Hopefully Ba will correct that run.

Sure, agreed, they had enough talent, but with Torres hot and cold (and he was a sure no-show for that game), they needed Mata/Lampard in sooner. That's a team they should beat at home handily 10/10 times.

But you're right, it happens.

Ba should help, but I would love Falcao or David Villa (seems to have fallen out of favor in Barca).

Falcao was never coming in January and Chelski needed someone now. Buying Villa at the quoted price and at his age and with his injury history would have been crazy IMO but a loan until the end of the season would have made sense and even more so if they then bought Falcao.

But Ba didn't cost enough that if come summer they buy Falcao that they will take much if any of a loss on Ba if they then sell him.

Agreed on Falcao. The reported $13 mil offer Arsenal have made for Villa or the swap for Lescott that's rumored are interesting. For the money, Ba seems like the bargain for sure, but if Villa returns to form and/or he could further spur Torres on...that's not that much coin for Roman to eat.

My understanding is that Barca are asking for £16 million, which is way too much IMO for a guy at this stage of his career.

Welcome to Chelsea Demba Ba. Hell of a debut. Hope this lights a fire under Torres' ass.

As Fernando Torres sat on the substitutes' bench and watched Chelsea haul themselves back into this tie, he may well have felt his humiliation was complete. It took the Spaniard 14 games, 732 minutes to be precise, to score his first goal for Chelsea after his £50m transfer from Liverpool in January 2011, and here was Demba Ba requiring just 61 minutes to get two on his debut for the club.

Makes sense in that they are a top club with actual principles and long term ideals as opposed to a nouveau riche lets spend spend spend club.

I'm not in anyway a Bayern fan but I at least respect them.

Bayern builds largely through their youth system (from what I've been reading), so it seems like a good fit. Not sure why anyone would want to manage Chelsea at this point unless they're given a golden parachute.

Gah...up 2-0 on Southhampton and give up the draw. I do enjoy watching Rickie Lambert though...dude always seems to deliver when I watch them play.

It is a boost to finally have a player waivering about signing a new deal actually sign a new deal but I don't expect Arsenal to take 3 points from Chelski at the bridge. I'd be happy with one personally as long as they take all three from West Ham on Wednesday.

I think the home draw is a safe bet, but if they give up another lead or lose, Benitez is going to get lambasted by the home crowd. So so negative at the Bridge.

Guess I'm becoming a closet LA Galaxy fan now..

At this point in the season, a draw is most likely.

That said, Chelsea's form has been up and down. I think there's a good chance Arsenal could nick a late goal.

So Spuds and Liverpool go out of the cup to lower league opposition and Chelski get taken to a replay. Not a good day for the EPL...

What a crazy day. Chelsea was lucky to escape that embarrassment. Would have been beyond humiliating for a certain Russian billionaire. It was fun to see them play in that environment, smaller place. I really like that aspect that teams a few leagues apart play from time to time and apparently can win...who knew...

But with the other two games ending in draws that makes that result less damaging.

Liverpool are yet to beat any of the teams currently in the top 10 of the Premier League this season.
