Schenn turtled twice last year just against Asham. Sorry, I just have no confidence in a 4th liner who turtles against other 4th liners and gets knocked out by stars. Particularly one who doesn't produce offense in the NHL and is a black hole of responsible coverage.

Stepan is most certainly better now.

Wouldn't surprise me one bit to see Schenn surpass Stepan in a few years though.

False

Edit: Stepan definitely has the edge right now but it won't stay that way for very long at all

Are you seriously Calling a cheap disgusting cheap shot from Asham, two hander in the face a turtle?? And nice comparison with a 4th liner in Asham who is tough as nails and schenn was the 5th overall pick and projected top 6 forward rookie season.

lol.

Better offensively, better defensively, more proven and better track record. Schenn can't touch Stepan's jockstrap for now.

You completely misunderstood... He is a projected top 6 forward in his rookie season.

Not on the Flyers, but on 2/3 of the league he probably would just sneak in. Not bad for a rookie season.

Well there's legitimately something wrong with you, you're just not getting it. Hes Projected to be a top 6 forward... NOT in his rookie year.

Schenn hasn't nearly proven enough for that kind of praise.

He hasn't had a great opportunity to.. And he was still great in the playoffs. Schenn has more Value than Stepan

Based on what?

Stepan has had a better rookie season than Schenn had and has proven far more than him in the NHL at both ends of the rink.

He also isn't injury prone like Schenn, who has already suffered a concussion.

It's not like Stepan is 38, he's only 1 yr older than him.

Not sure how you can expect Schenn to put up top-six numbers while receiving bottom-six ice-time.

EDIT: Not to mention that a number of things worked against him last season.

Schenn's most common linemates (forward) were Simmonds and Briere

... when he was on the ice. He ranked 11th in TOI for their forwards.

I don't see how you're giving Stepan the definitive defensive advantage, both players are very competent in that area.

Stepan averaged over 3 minutes PP a game and 19 minutes, schenn 14 minutes and less than 2 minutes PP, not really a fair comparison given Philly has better offensive depth.

Schenn averages 6 seconds of PK time.
Stepan is on the 2nd unit and averages 1:17 per game.

Stepan does this on top 5 pk in the league.

I wasn't really talking about DSteps anymore. Just correcting people that were saying that Schenn was playing with 4th liners

Schenn doesn't have to PK Flyers have Couturier doing that as a rookie... Yeah sure Stepan has more defensive responsibilities and he may in fact be better at it but schenn was a highly touted 2-way center, a top 5 pick because of his two way play.
