On a team with Sidney Crosby, Mike Richards, Ryan Getzlaf, Jeff Carter, Corey Perry, and in a tournament with Ovechkin, Malkin, Kessel, and others, Bergeron was the scoring leader and MVP. Not bad for a kid who got cut from midget aaa at 15, cut by his junior team at 16.

It's really quite interesting that the listed players have achieved so much tangible success and, at the same time, share many traits that are pervasive throughout this group. They are all offensively gifted, possess elite defensive awareness, and have incredible work ethic.
I was going to post this. 3 of my favourite players in the league and it's not a fluke that they've won all that they have, they are all hard workers with pretty complete games.

I'll argue Richards over Bergeron every day but they're both studs. I like Richards offensive game more, defensively they're pretty even with Bergeron getting the nod, Richards just has more swag and he's much more physical.

Remember when everyone thought he was a bust, and that he would never live up to that potential and break out? That seems like only a couple years ago now.

Bergeron gets more than " a nod " defensively over Richards right now.

At this rate perhaps he will, but better make room for Cooney Weiland, Bill Cowley, Bobby Bauer, Woody Dumart, Fern Flaman, Ken Hodge and Rick Middleton first Bergeron can surpass these guys with more titles and indivudal numbers though, no doubt. Not yet though

I disagree with the Bolded. Bergeron is much better defensively and is close in physical play.

You'd have to have a very short memory to not remember the Rocket Richard from less than 2 years ago

Bergeron is the last person to win a spot in the Triple Gold club, the 26th player to have done so. J. Toews and E. Staal are the two other recent players who have reached Triple Gold status.

But when you combine that with elite faceoff and defensive ability (Selke) you have a pretty damn good player.

You can add the 2002 Ivan Hlinka Cup (called the Eight Nations back then)

I don't know about the most but Forsbergs list is decent :

1992 World Championship Gold
1994 Olympic Gold
1998 World Championship Gold
2006 Olympic Gold

1995 Calder
2003 Art Ross
2003 Hart

1996 Stanley Cup
2001 Stanley Cup

1993 Guldpucken (SEL player of the year)
1994 Guldpucken

1993 Guldhjalmen (SEL MVP)
1994 Guldhjalmen

Lidstrom probably has the most his list is ridiculous.

Sorry, I should've been more specific, I'm referring to only championships, like the ones listed for Bergeron/Richards in this thread.

Yes they certainly would, but i had the privilege to meet Matt Duchene here in Sweden a while back and he was ceratinly committed to the team. He had an outburst in the meadia about the teams work ethic, he said concerning the lockout that Frφlunda is now his team, and he played a solid all around game for us.
Concerning the Spengler Cup i bet they viewed it as a cool thing to compete for, with such a long history there. Nice to see european hockey showcased during the lockout.

It's so sad that the Habs have become so irrelevant that Habs fans would praise a disgusting Bruin like this. We really are the new Leafs.
