Also, did Ouellet still feel the affect over the ankle injury? I watched the summer series and highlights with his CHL team and he looked quicker back then... or is he not faster than this?

Team Canada has on of the best offensive lines in this tourney. This is obvious that they have talent. Coaching is a question. Same as Russia. Anyway. Thanks Canada for good game

Out of all the "bad" Murphy plays, that was was the least bad. Credit goes to Nichushkin, he just beat him. Rielly's pinch was almost successful. The blame should fall squarely on Spott though. Don't know a single coach who would put two pure offensive defesemen on at the same time in overtime when neither has been really good. Put Rielly or Murphy with Wotherspoon or Harrington at all times and both will play better. Doesn't take a genius.

Kudos to Russia. They were the better team 5 on 5.

Ugh. Offensively I thought we brought it, but our defence was a fire drill too often.

Wow, so much bitterness in this thread.

Take the game for what it is, entertainment!

IMO, this game was thoroughly entertaining, taunting included.

Lol at the swedish "expert" analyzing the OT goal "he has no respect for the bigger stronger opponents". Well, i guess Murphy are quietly strong as an ox then!

I wouldn't say shortened.. we still produce way more quality NHL players compared to the rest of the world.

The year they missed Stamkos, Duchene and Tavares was huge. Stamkos scored 50 in NHL that year.

This year, the talent wasn't the same. Just stating...

No excuses though. They sucked big time.

Defence was seven for seven in underperforming this tournament. Never seen anything like it. If Ouellet's ankle acted up and that's why he struggled in the semis and finals he might get a pass.

That was Makarov.

Vasilevsky was in net for the 6-5 comeback loss by Canada.

He's referring to last year's Canada-Russia game when Vasya was tired and fell apart in the 3rd.

It's not as if Canada got outplayed either. Outshot the Russians 45-25, and had two late goal posts in regulation time.

I know the overreaction in this country with be monumental, but anything can happen in these tournaments and this year is evidence of that.

I'm not sure to whom you are referring with the charitable comment, but I've never encountered a Canadian fan that feels that way. It is bittersweet, if anything, and when we lose without our best players we can try to rationalize why that way, as it is easier for some than admitting that Canada was simply outplayed (as was the case in this tournament's two biggest games for us).

Feel free to continue generalizing all Canadian fans as thinking and acting the same way, but I think your analysis is a little bit off.

We lost the game yesterday when they chose to go with Binnington. During ALL the tournament, Subban NEVER gave the weak goals that Binnington gave today. NEVER.
