47% of the Draft picks in last year's NHL draft were Canadian.

The next closest was the US with 27%.

No other country was close.

That's the real indication of talent, not short international tournaments.

Why oh why is tsn glossing over how epically bad our defence was? How many people wives does Murphy have pictures of, Jesus...

Don't taunt.

"Not the Canadian way" as Don says.

Just beat them... physically (body checking) and on the scoreboard.

Exactly. They were so close too. Things happens.

Put Rielly or Murphy with Wotherspoon or Harrington at all times and both will play better. Doesn't take a genius.

Kudos to Russia. They were the better team 5 on 5.
Agreed on your point about the coaching, but not on Murphy's effort on the GWG - he didn't even touch the guy! He has to at least attempt to put the body on Nichuskin there, swat at the puck, something. Watching the guy burn you to the outside is simply unacceptable.

wiki-link for one E.Davydov. Wonder how much attention his actions would have had in the modern world of social media?

Hopefully the Canadians take names on those who were taunting for the next time they're on the ice together.

Loved the taunting Russia did after the win. That stupid jersey grab thing that Canadian players do all the time after they score a goal. I thought it was great.

Amazing game though.

That's what everyone said in 1998. Funny how everyone thinks everyone is "catching up" but how is this any different from back then?

Canada was 8th in 98, 2nd in 99, 3rd in 00 and 01, and then 2nd in 02. Canada didn't win gold again until 05. This "everyone is catching up" is a fabrication from fans like yourself. Canada has been in this position for a long time.

Steve Spott was terrible. I've always liked the guy as a coach but just nothing he did worked. I'm not worried about the state of Canadian Hockey though, will bounce back.

LOL @ people getting upset at the taunting. They're kids.

Besides, IIRC, doesn't that kind of thing happen every year.

Only Canadians do the Jersey grab, I've never seen a Russian player do that ever in my life.

The above is a blatant lie.

And Slepyshev, Makarov etc aren't talented enough to be drafted? Like Gusev wasn't talented enough?

Rielly made a play that should have been safe, and would have had he a decent partner (again, spott is at fault)
Yea, Rielly had support from the 3rd defender... Who the hell was supporting him? He pinched in to get the puck, missed it and had his winger come barring down on Murphy who let him walk by while another Russian was crashing in and Rielly had to try and make a move to do something when it was too late.

Take your ****ing homer glasses off.
