I gained a lot of respect for Andy McDonald during the lockout. One of the few voices of reason out there:

An easy guy to cheer for.

Dislike Evander Kane. Mostly for this tweet and how completely oblivious he is to have tweeted it in the first place.

http://t.co/UZ3GYO4K

Won't last though, he is a very good player AND he knocked Matt Cooke out.

Apparently not good enough to play in the KHL though

Oh yes these poor NHL players with their minimum salaries of $500,000 per. They might have a contract cap of only 5 years. What wretched conditions.

Seriously guys, what's worse, having to take 10% less and shorter contracts or ten teams folding due to the crippling financial burden they can't keep up with? you know how many guys would lose their jobs then? Are these players really this clueless? Yeah, i think some of the owners are slimebags as well, but there is no doubt player salaries have become extremely prohibitive.

If someone offered you a massive amount of money to play hockey, would you take it?

It's not the players' fault that salaries are "extremely prohibitive." (Though compared to baseball, that's laughable.) Why do the players have to save the owners from themselves?

at those Roy tweets, he is such an immature buffoon. I'd see him out downtown some nights before they had a game the next day so glad he's out of Buffalo now.
If you were among the best in the world at what you do, it would take you 5 minutes to find a new job. If you had a contract, and got fired, you'd still get paid.

I don't really see the sound and the fury from these guys as different than how NHL'rs complain about 98% of the calls refs make.

That picture is hilarious as were Barch's tweets.

The sense of entitlement in the tweets was surprising to me though .

A lot of the players saying things are guys like bissonnette that are bench warmers or 4th liners, they could get a new job maybe..and it would be a huge pay cut.

I have been surprised by Subban. For all the "classless" talks he gets on these boards, he actually seems to be one of the more mature guys I've listened to during the lockout. He's become one of my favorite young players.

I use to like Toews but his hardline stance made me lose a lot of respect for him.

And I've gained a lot of respect for Roman Hamrlik for speaking out against the PA.

And I absolutely despise Erik Cole (he sucked as an Oiler) and Bissonette.

Wowza that was refreshing. It's sad his colleagues aren't on the same boat as he is.

Because pro hockey has become a bidding war. 99% of the players will go to the team which offers them the most money with a small divergence for playing for an exceptionally well managed team or a team with an excellent shot at a championship, and in those cases the team will probably be asked to at least come close to matching the highest offer, or the player will take less but only for a couple years because the other conditions are so amazing. For the most part, teams that don't make the exceptional offers are doomed to not keep their stars and not be competitive.

Even the worst players in the NHL are still among the best hockey players in the world.

You think Biznasty would make a lot of money playing overseas? No chance, he'd be screwed if it wasn't for NHL teams still having goons.

Not that I did not like Crosby before, but I am really proud of him. What some here seem to interpret as asskissing, I see as loyalty, which I happen to rank highly. Can`t imagine Crosby doesn`t want to play hockey, considering how long he didn`t/couldn`t and I am also having a hard time seeing him not making his money regardless of the CBA. Seriously, how has he displayed personal greed whatsoever. IDGI.

Would he make as much? No. Would he make more than the average person? yes.
