Considering a lot of players from USA, Russia, Sweden etc... play in the CHL and then end up being better than Canada is horrible. CHL should stop letting all the foreigners come and play here in Canada. It is called the Candians Hockey League for a reason? It should just be for Canadians. They are developing opponent players which is crazy and then they take our strategies and beat us..
Should American colleges stop Canadians from playing in the NCAA? There's far more Canadians playing sports in the NCAA than Americans playing in the CHL.
But you might get your wish. The USHL is getting better and better. Very well could be a time in the not so distant future that non Canadians prefer the USHL.
And you know who that will hurt? The CHL.
No just talking about Junior League not any professional league.

Well they should but the NCAA is a much different system and you cannot really stop foreigners from playing. I think every country should have their own leagues where only players from the country should play in. No foreigners should be able to train and practice in another country.

I don't think you would be posting this if a bunch of poorly trained, no named NCAA hockey players showed us (Canada) what domination and humiliation is .

Prettymuch this. The USHL, NAHL, and EJHL have all been increasing in quality, and the NCAA is littered with Canadians from the various junior A leagues. This kind of provincalist attitude would end up doing more harm to Canada in the long run then it would to the US, Sweden, or Russia as the US would just close off access to the NCAA and the various junior A leagues here from Canadians by taking the same approach.

I would because it does not apply to Americans only also to all the Europeans who play in the CHL from Russia, Sweden, Finland etc...
If you want hockey in Canada to get worse, you go on thinking that's a good idea. The best players playing the best players playing the best players is the ultimate development program. Terrible suggestion.
There are several American teams in the CHL btw. Should we get rid of them as well?

I believe the USHL is increasing the number of allowable "foreigners" to play starting next year.
And that is one of the smartest moves they've made in recent years.

Yes I do but if they would have the chance to play in the CHL, I am pretty sure most would play in the CHL to get better development and have a higher chance to succeed to pro levels.

But they'd still be losing a significant number of slots to develop players overall. There's a number of late-blooming players including Belfour and undersized players including St Louis who might otherwise not have ever been given the chance to crack the NHL if not for their time in the NCAA. Removing all foreign and US players from the CHL would still put Canadian players at a loss for total number of players in top level junior/amateur leagues in North America (CHL and NCAA)
It's not called the Canadian Hockey League because it's for Canadian players. It's because the teams are based in Canada (Even though there's 8 American teams I think).

You're confusing the purpose of the CHL and USHL. They are trying to develop, and need the best players to do that. If they're getting players from outside their country, it's because they're better than players then ones who aren't quite as good. There are other opportunities for them (BCHL for Canadians, NAHL for Americans). It's not the CHL's job to win at the World Juniors, it's Hockey Canada's job. USA has their own team in the USHL, but Canada can't do that.
I agree with you wholeheartedly... Canada would produce much better teams if you take out some of the top players in the league due to their nationality and replace them with inferior Canadian talent.. I mean, what are these other countries doing playing hockey anyway!?

Also, letīs not pretend that the CHL is the only development league that has foreigners in it. Actually out of the three teams that finished ahead of Canada, the number of foreign players developing in those countries leagues is as big and mostly bigger than in the CHL and the numbers of these foreign players has been growing in recent years.
As mentioned several times the NCAA has hundreds of Canadians (and a few dozens of Europans on top of it). USHL has around 60 foreign players (which is quite a lot as the number of all players in the league is >500)
In each of the Swedish junor leagues (U20/U18) there is around 40 players from lesser European countries and their numbers have been growing. Aditionally there are dozens of foreigners in HockeyAllsvenskan, which arguably also is a development league.
The Russian junior league includes five non-Russian teams and several foreigners are also playing in Russian teams and alltogether there are around 180 foreign players in MHL.
And even such countries as Czech republic or Slovakia there are imports from non-traditional hockey countries like Croatia or Romania.
The hockey community is a very small community and it is in the interest of everyone included that the level(popularity of the game grows worldwide and this is the contribution that the better hockey countries have to do in order to achieve the goal of making hockey a more competitive sport. But I imagine those fans that have it in their heads that hockey = NHL and North American lagues and once a year during the WJC and once in four years with the Olympics remember that thereīs a Team Canada canīt understand this...
As soon as possible you can make this happen. You can just mind your own business about the NCAA and USHL, we can manage those just fine with great players like Girgensons or Jaden Schwartz.
