I must admit, I believed all the hype and didn't think anyone was getting past Canada. If you told me they weren't going to medal I would have laughed.

only in the kids games. last year mens IIHF your "star team" with full of NHL superstars failed big time. Finland with much worse team went further in the tournament. That if something tells the true level. Our kids failed this tournament big time as well. too good prem. games so they went jackets open to play real games and failed. i laughed my ass off tho, it was fun to watch Anyways grats USA for the gold. truly deserved. Too bad the final game wasn't as entertaining as bronze but that's how it usually goes. Too much pressure in the final

Not much point in discussing ifs and buts, this tournament made it abundantly clear that the paper is worth jack. Or else Canada should've just been handed the gold.

I echo this sentiment. Really impressive defensive performance by the US this game and tournament.

Good job though Sweden, you guys are my #2 team.
Would've liked to see Forsberg play better but oh well.

Is Forsberg eligible to play next year?

Best Swedish player Filip Sandberg, who wasnt even on the team until the day before the tournament started. Think Rönnberg picked the wrong C for this team. The second the team got stressed or nervous, everyone started playing without passing... just like Russia... lead by the biggest disapointment of them all, Filip Forsberg... =(

Gratz Team USA! What an awesome effort. Gibson is a beast & the team just plays outstanding defense.

Didn't Sweden face Finland that year

And i gotta ask; do you really believe that Finland is better than Sweden at hockey?

This is the best in-tournament defense the Americans have ever had. Trouba is an absolute stud.

So guys like Yakupov and Forsberg are going to be bad NHLers?

Please. Yes, they struggled at times but it's a big stage. It might take them awhile to harness their skills in big NHL games but they will still be at least top 2 line players.

First game of the tournament I've been able to watch live. Great game for both sides. The US defense gave Sweden almost nothing and when they did get an opportunity, the US had the best goalie behind them.

Congrats to Sweden on a great tournament despite missing some top players.

USA was outstanding in the elimination rounds and really deserved this, lets not talk about what players were missing and stuff like that.

I'm proud of the way Sweden played this tournament (I didnt think we would reach the final game) and I'm sure we will have a great team for next year (Collberg, Lindholm <3) in Malmö.

Congrats again USA. You have a very special team, an awesome goalie and an amazing d-unit. Classy and respectful! Cya in 2014.
