Playing Rielly seemingly as a 7D for most of the tournament and then pairing him up with Ryan Murphy (who I haven't liked seeing on the ice all tournament) in a 4-on-4 in OT made my brain hurt. One of many coaching decisions that left me puzzled.

I feel the coaching was the biggest deficiency for Canada in this tournament, followed by the lack of defensive play on the backend (and bad pairs, to boot), but ymmv.

Oh my - so many posts to save. Looking forward to seeing how well you do at home in Sochi. Let's see if you think bronze is cool then - if you make it that far, that is.

Well, everyone questioned Spott picking Murphy over Corrado and I think its pretty clear that a two-way guy like Corrado would have made more sense that a smaller offensive guy like Murphy in terms of pairings and what the team needed.

The decision was questionable pre-tournament and post-tournament it is obvious that he got it wrong.

i think Spotte has seen his last days of coaching any National team and

probably any NHL stint.

Agreed. Pretty obvious he took Murphy in part due to the Kitchener ties.

Who was that that tried to slash the player with the stick up high?

Should get a suspension.

Intent is clearly there to hurt the player

They taunted for Bronze.

Regardless if it was against a rival and sending them without a medal.

They taunted for Bronze

Rielly anticipated and went for the interception of the pass, if one looked closely he did tip the puck, the pick however hit the stanchion and instead of going to him, went right to Nichuskin.

It was a fortuitous bounce and really even though Murphy took a bad angle in defending but I can't lay the blame on him, this is Nichuskin's signature move. Seth Jones couldn't stop him earlier in the tournament on a similar play, you can't expect Murphy to either.

In the end it was a bit of a bad bounce, some luck, and a very talented player that iced the game.
True fanboy comment. He made a high risk play at the blue line and lost. Didn't backcheck as hard as he could and ultimately he refused to engage Nishuskin physically. Instead he tried to poke check the puck while hitting the brakes.

Murphy's action are more defensible given the speed and size of Nishuskin.

That comes with the territory of being the best, you don't see it happening if they beat the fins or Slovaks

It doesn't come with being the best if you're humble.

It's a heated rivalry, Russia won to take home a medal on their home ice. They're teenagers, there's taunting the whole tournament. Was it classy? Nah...But Danault swinging his stick was waaaay worse.
